The Official WK2 Mobsters-Packers Discussion Thread
Rodgers definitely seems less nifty on his feet. Twelve years ago, he'd get out of the pocket and run for some long gains. Five years ago, he'd shift around in the pocket and still get off a rocket to an open WR. Against Minny, he seemed to be bothered by the pressure and just concede the sack. Maybe that's a one-game thing, though. He was the NFL MVP last year.
12 years ago, I could flip burgers for 10-12 days straight, 8 hours a day, with no problem health-wise. Two weeks ago, I idiotically flipped burgers for a 60 hours week. Big mistake. Back’s bothersome again. Now I’m gonna have to burn all the “time and a half”($7.25/hr X 1.5 = 10.88/hr) to see a younger-than-I-am primary care physician to get a ‘roid prescription for the back.
I agree, and I think most do. But I think we are focused on Bakh because lots of people are wondering if he's ever coming back. We know Jenkins will be back, just a matter of this game or next game. But Bakh is the subject of concern because he can't even practice three days in a row.
Nijman seemed to play well, and if they can get Jenkins back to RT, then they can figure out if Newman or Tom is better at RG.
Jenkins fixes a lot. Accepting that Tom is better than Newman fixes the rest.

Father Time is a motherfucker, I’m telling ya.
Father time is still undefeated.

Packers elevating Patrick Taylor from practice squad. Apparently not elevating Winfree, which could mean Lazard is good to go.

According to Chicago expert and our very own, The Shadow, the Chicago Outfit, the infamous organized crime syndicate full of corny Italians, once laundered frogskins through Papa Bear (George Halas) for the mission of keeping the bankruptcy-bound Packers intact. The Outfit wanted to exert its influence in Wisconsin beyond the MKE. Consequently, the Packers were forced to hire some “made-man” Italian named Vince Lombardi. The rest is motherfucking history.
Discuss this week’s battle here.
APB, this is probably old news to you, but : another Packers/Bears mob oddity : Jake Kumerow's great-grandfather was none other than Tony (Joe Batters/Big Tuna) Accardo - boss of the Outfit for a looong time.
Not Mobsy - but maybe of interest. If George Halas had been on time back in 1915, there would have been no NFL.

Since you are right at the gates of St. Adelbert Cemetery, why not pop in to pay your respects to the father of pro football, George ‘Papa Bear’ Halas? Halas was instrumental in the formation of the league one day known as the NFL, starting a pro team dubbed the ‘Decatur Staleys’ in 1920. Those Staleys would soon become better known as the Chicago Bears. Halas was not only the team’s owner, he also served several stints as head coach. He was notably cheap, once being described by legendary player/coach Mike Ditka as a man “who throws around nickels like manhole covers.”
Little Known Fact : Halas narrowly avoided becoming a victim in Chicago’s tragic Eastland Disaster. He was working (1915) for the Western Electric Company when employees were invited to board the Eastland passenger ship for a cruise and picnic excursion. He was running late and missed the boarding.
The Eastland, while still moored its Chicago River berth, capsized, drowning 844 people (including many women and children) just yards from shore.
