I really question MLF and Barry’s coaching ability. It takes a real effort to do so little with so much.

Our defense cost us this game. Our offense, as it's presently configured, can't score 28 points in regulation. This is not a Packers offense from the past 30 years. We're a run first offense because our best playmakers are RBs.
Our defense needs to be able to hold an average (I'm using that term loosely in this case) offense below 20 points. We cannot play from behind, because we don't have the skill players to play from behind.
If we can't generate a pass rush, we can't play zone. Obviously, with this defense, if we play to stop the run, there are gaping coverage issues in our short zone pass defense.
Most teams that commit to stopping the run use extra bodies and play man coverage to stop the pass. I guess our coaching staff is extremely afraid of the big play potential of that alignment
Unfortunately, if you have a disciplined offense willing to take many plays to score, they can easily beat our present defensive alignment.

The Giants had the ball 3 times, not counting the kneel down, in the 2nd half and scored 17 points. They had an 11 play drive, a 15 play drive, and a 7 play drive. The defense stopped nothing in the 2nd half.Originally posted by King Friday View PostThe Packers offense scored 20 points in the first half. The defense deserves blame, but three and outs on three straight incompletions when you are winning the game is not the fault of the defense.
They also gave up scores on the last 2 drives of the first half. Six consecutive scoring drives. Our defense cost us the game.

Excuse me. Five consecutive scoring drives. Bad math, can't add 3+2.Originally posted by beveaux1 View PostThe Giants had the ball 3 times, not counting the kneel down, in the 2nd half and scored 17 points. I really think this is 50% on the offense and 50% on the defense.
The offense scored ZERO points in the second half against a well coached defense that is honestly not that good.
And welll, our defense would look really good with Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy as the DC.TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

I was so excited to watch this team this year. I figured the offense would be a work in progress, but I really, really thought this was going to be a helluva defense to watch. All those great players - the three really good corners, Devondre Campbell, Gary, Preston Smith, Kenny Clark, and the signing of Jarron Reed and drafting of Walker and Wyatt. They seemed like they'd be crazy good.
But they suck. They were up two touchdowns (17-3) against a team with all the wide receiving talent out, a hobbled QB, and to top it off, players dropping like flies during the game. Nonetheless, the defense let the offense score time after time after time in the second half. What a shit effort.
I am souring on Joe Barely. It doesn't seem that it's a lack of talent there. If you can't shut down that Giants team after it got behind by two TD's, that's on you, defense.
MLF also did not have a good game. This loss goes to the coaching staff. I think Joe Barely needs some kind of come-to-Jesus moment where he figures out what the hell he's been doing wrong.
Luckily it's a long season, so the story's not written yet. But at the moment the plot is going sideways."The Devine era is actually worse than you remember if you go back and look at it."

I was reading some New York Post comments about a few stories when this dude added one about the game today.
