I tend to like Badger alumni partly because of the style of football for which they have historically been noted. Wisconsin is known for tough, hardnosed, groundpounding football... so if you're a player coming out of Wisconsin and being well-regarded in the draft, you've come up in a system that emphasizes the traditional, old-school, smashnouth style that (to me) is the way you win tough games. Those pounders tend to be my favorite players. So a Badger good enough to be a valuable draft pick is a player for whom I automatically have a soft spot right off the bat.Originally posted by texaspackerbacker View PostI'm one of those guys who tends to favor Badger players, especially the ones who are actually from Wisconsin, including Braelon Allen. I don't like Bortolini, though - I'm not sure where he comes from. That dislike is based on seeing him play.

I don't think any of those top 3 teams would want to trade all the way down to 11. And if they did, they would demand a huge price. I think the Vikings will set their sights on McCarthy.Originally posted by call_me_ishmael View PostAre the vikes gonna trade all the way up to #2 and draft the LSU dude? I can see Chicago doing it for the right package. They know damned well they're going to be drafting high again for at least one more year.Originally posted by Joemailman View PostI don't think any of those top 3 teams would want to trade all the way down to 11. What I can't envision is even Minnesota being dumb enough to offer what it would probably take.

That IS the organization that gave up their entire draft AND Bud Grant’s daughter for Herschel Walker.Originally posted by Frozen Tundra View PostI can see Chicago doing it for the right package. They know damned well they're going to be drafting high again for at least one more year.

I think some in the MIN front office might be feeling warm seats, but I agree with the sentiment that they are probably looking at Nix, Penix or McCarthynix. Maye, Williams, and Daniels will be gone when they pick and it will be very expensive to move up to get one of them. They can draft a QB a bit lower, let them sit & learn for a year, and meanwhile sign Cousins to a 2 year 100M deal or some such nonsense.

NFL radio said Cousins was ready to take 2nd tier money. Somewhere in the $35-$40M range per year but wanted the contract 100% guaranteed.Originally posted by run pMc View PostI think some in the MIN front office might be feeling warm seats, but I agree with the sentiment that they are probably looking at Nix, Penix or McCarthynix. That does make sense - if they think one of those three can be a top-tier NFL QB. You don't want to be drafting an average or below average NFL starter who will likely have to sit for a year.Originally posted by run pMc View PostI think some in the MIN front office might be feeling warm seats, but I agree with the sentiment that they are probably looking at Nix, Penix or McCarthynix. As for Cousins, is it really "2nd tier" money if it's all guaranteed?"The Devine era is actually worse than you remember if you go back and look at it."

Too many picks on a very young roster to do that. Although if they dropped out of round one and drafted 4 times in the 2nd I wouldn't be upset.Originally posted by Frozen Tundra View PostI'd still bet money that we don't even draft the first night - drop back out of Round One and end up with about 13 picks again this year. The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary -- Vince Lombardi

Patriots should sign him for a 2 year deal to mentor their next QB in waiting. Or really any team that is drafting a young QB, but has a shot to make the playoffs while he learns.Originally posted by ThunderDan View PostNFL radio said Cousins was ready to take 2nd tier money.
