  • Official Packers vs. Giants Gameday Thread

So here we are, old bobble is feeling like Wesley when the Dread Pirate Roberts would tell him "good night Wesely, sleep well. I'll likely kill you in the morning."

Each week I wait patiently for the youngest team in the NFL to lay an egg and release me from my responsibility and each week they say "Good morning bobble, hope the hangover is better. We plan on winning today and extending the unlikeliest of stories".

This has the classic feel of a trap game. The Giants aren't a good team. They have been blown out most of the games this year. The Packers are young and ascending. What could possibly go wrong. Well, for starters Barkley could get 30 touches while Barry continues to focus on stopping the "explosive" pass play even when Danny DeVito's cousin is the QB.

We could also see a young team get over confident coming off such big wins.

I expect this to be a closer game than any of us will care to watch. The Giants season has been a disappointment, but teams like that tend to get up for primetime games. This is a rare chance to change the narrative for them. The home crowd will be loud and ornery early on. We need to quell that fast. I like the fact that Love doesn't seem to get too high or too low. Tonight he will simply go about his business and find a way to win a primetime game on the road.

Pack 31 Giants 17 In a game that will be closer than the final score.

Cheering for the Bears was easier considering Packers have won 14 of the last 15 games between the two. Although I did have to remind myself a couple of times that I was supposed to want the Bears to win. Old habits die hard.

I don't see tonight as a trap game. Packers lost to the Giants last year and the players who were here will remember it and let the rookies know about it. This game is all about getting ahead and forcing Giants into obvious passing situations. Barkley is by far the best player on their offense.

But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

Seems like when we start hot and play the game within the plan and downs within the down/distance that LaFleurs offense and Loves ability are maximized. Plus we keep our Defense off the field.

I do fear a trap game and hope it’s a good test as there’s a lot of winnable games on our schedule.

Being that I really despise the Loins and much of their fan base, it was not hard for me to root for da Bears, and as Joe said, it was made easier by the fact the Packers have beaten Chicago like a rug for several years now.

But I do agree with you that thinking Joe Barely is going to design schemes to stop the run first is asking an awful lot of him. It's weird. I do think the OLB's are going to play a big role in this one. I trust Preston Smith - he's a good player, consistent and good. But Rashan Gary's going to have to think about playing the run and containing the edge a little more than he usually does. You can't get after Danny DeVito's cousin unless you're stopping the run game, or unless your offense is putting up points left and right. And I don't think either of those will necessarily happen.

I dunno. Bright lights, big city. Feels like a trap to me.

Only one #Packers transaction this week:

Kenyan Drake has been elevated from the practice squad. Eric Stokes remains on IR.

I don't think this is a trap game. The potential trap game will be Christmas Eve at Carolina, one week before they play at Minnesota in a game that could decide which team makes the playoffs.

They could lose tonight, but not because they were looking past the Giants.

Drake is a prime example of the "cheap" quality RBs available all the time. With decent blocking he is a very capable pro. I'd like to see him make a little noise tonight.

He's always been a very good receiver as well. Might see some checkdowns to him tonight.
