This defense is only going to get better. We got some serious horses, y'all. At every level of the defense.

LVN's backside pursuit and TFL was kick ass.
Well....we always did, but they were framed more as the opponents offensive highlights.

Not really. In the end its about the players and the way the coordinators advance the scheme. Playing a boring, non creative defense is bad no matter how you line up.

Starting to wonder if we are seeing all of Barry’s hard work coming to fruition and Halfey come lately is just riding the wave.

What you think about that Mailman?

That's what I said to my first wife after three years of marriage and her wondering how my mistress could possibly think I was good in bed.

Yeah, there's always that "if Barry had had the players the new guy has . . . " but he had a bunch of his own first and second round picks, and he turned them into soft poo.

The way Barry sat back and waited - couldn't you just see Tennessee dinking and dunking down the field, over and over, until they won the game? Barry playing soft, soft, soft - then suddenly dialing up a blitz that gets picked up and BAM, the dagger.

No thank you. Let's see how Half-Assley does, but so far, so good.

                      • Per ESPN Radio, in his several seasons in GB Joe Barry'd defense gave up over 30 points 4 times.

This year Hatley's defense has given up over 30 points three times. We looked Barry Like versus Detroit
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

Yikes. I wonder how they rank. It doesn't seem like the D is any good.

If that is what they said, I suggest that you not rely on ESPN radio.

                            • Yeah, by my count Barry's defenses gave up more than 30 8 times and exactly 30 twice.

                              • One issue with the points scored metric is that if you play at a slow pace (MLF and especially AR offenses are slow paced) that speeds up the game, which means less possessions and less opportunities to score points.
I'd be more inclined to look at points per drive allowed or other metrics in addition to points scored. People have poo-poo'd opposed QB rating as a metric, but I haven't heard why. I'd think 3rd and 4th down conversion rates could provide a good idea of how good a defense is at getting off the field.

A stat is more meaningful when it has context.
