  • Official Packers vs Eagles Gameday Thread

OK. Good morning, Rats. After a gentle nudge from Dear Leader, I am jumping into the Gameday Thread with both feet. My first time even starting a thread in 12 years, and I have never participated during a game. As many (most, all?) of you know I’m not an x’s and o’s guy, and BTW, QBME has nothing whatsoever to do with a quarterback. Typically, the thread begins with an overall analysis, so here we go….

Philadelphia has new coordinators, both Offensive and Defensive. This is obviously an organizational Heimlich maneuver to rectify the choke job they experienced at the end of last season. On defense they now have Vic Fangio. I don’t know much about him except he’s old and the Packers had their way with his defenses when he was with the Bears. On offense they have Kellen Moore, the guy who was with Dallas until he crossed Jerrah. He was ok there. Since then, he doesn’t seem able to hold a job. So new schemes on both sides of the ball does not portend good things. Also, they have lost Jason Kelce – the rock in the middle. Perhaps the whole offense collapses from the inside out. Lastly, and not to be overlooked, they know nothing about cheese. What’s with that overprocessed orange goop they put on top of a perfectly good beef sandwich? And Philadelphia Cream Cheese?? It’s not real cheese!

The Packers are awesome. High octane offense. MLF will have their heads spinning. On defense Hafely is installing the 4-3 to which Philadelphia hasn’t a clue. What are they going to do – watch Boston College film to try and figure it out? HA! We know everything about cheese. Nations biggest supplier with over 600 varieties produced.

    Now, to the prediction:
All the talking heads say it’s going to be close. I dunno, I ain’t that football smart. I decided to flip a coin; heads Packers win, tails the Eagles win. That stupid quarter got it wrong on the first flip. It took four more flips to get it right. 3 out of 5! So, the Packers will win with Nardz busting a few, the last one squirting up the middle (of the goal posts).

    Final Score

    Packers - 34
    Eagles - less than 34

    Have at it Rats!!!

But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

And QBME, that was a good opening for this thread. Nice summary, good work.

Now all we need is a victory, and you're on your way!

      Go Pack go!

Yes! Let’s fucking go. I’d love to fast forward this distracted work day.

My sense is it’ll be a slower start for both teams facing new DCs and limited game speed pre seasons. I also think we’ll be playing from behind much of the game, rookie kicker will miss a FG creating all sorts of chatter, they’ll be lots of live shots of Titletown but our Defense will get us the ball and we’ll win the game.

Make enough predictions and some are bound to be true.

        Go pack

Well damn, you don’t lie when you say in the morning! But you did get it wrong when you said you didn’t know what to do!! Awesome work and just what we need because looks like Packers will be the hated rival today. Just for wearing green. Read these Brazilian fans hate the color green so much players get fined for wearing it and they wanted to paint the grass black!! Shit might be almost as bad as Philly.

The last time the Packers and Eagles opened the season against each other was 9-12-2010. The Packers won 27-20 and went on to win the Super Bowl. So...

              Packers 27
              Eagles 20

Nice start Q. I have one major goal from this game and that is to get out of it injury free. I hate resting starters all spring, I think I may have said that once or twice.

I'd like to see our DL attack gaps and do basically everything the opposite of Joe Barry. I want the silent assassin (my new moniker for Love) spread it around and make like Ron Popeil's legendary slice and dice vs. the Philly D.

I think we will see a lot of Bullard in the slot with Whiskey Evan playing safety. Nixon will probably split snaps with Williams in this scenario with Bullard bouncing back and forth, maybe sprinkle in some McKinney at slot as well. Confusion is the name of the game in the NFL. Especially when playing against an average passer.

Go pack. No injuries. 24-17 only when Philly kicks a FG with 1:12 remaining and attempts a futile onside kick....can you still do an onside with the new rules?

I think both teams are legit and possibly the two best teams in the NFC. 31-28 Packers.

Unless I win big today at the poker tables - IF I do, I’ll check in into a posh Oneida hotel room - odds are good I will be watching this game alone in a Super 8 in Green Bay. Basement that I miserably dwell in is currently full of guests right now. Flip burgers for $15/hr. Can’t afford my own smoke-free crib.

I expect a loss, cos, well, my life sucks.

Had to post early this morning. I had an early tee time and couldn't wait until later as my wife works from home and commandeers the home office most all day. Besides, I didn't want to incur the wrath of The Captain on my maiden voyage. Although he may have posted an image centered around a Brazilian bikini wax. Hmmm....
