WHY in hell would we sit anybody who is capable of playing? The Packers are still in contention for the division. Are some of ya'all seriously just wanting to punt that away? The Bears have to play the Niners and Lions. They could easily lose both ...... and ya'all want to sit good players? Ya got something against playing at home in the playoffs? Sheeeeesh.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

Fine put your money where your mouth is, let’s have a 2 part bet.

Part 1, Willis will not be a Packer next year.
Part 2, Willis new contract will average over $15 million a year.

$100 a leg, loser donates to their favorite charity and posts the receipt.
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

An accountant will also take into account the value of their assets and how much each one is worth. Yes, we can have two highly paid QBs on our team. Then we have CBS like Hobbs and Nixon as starters on our team.

We finally got out of a tight cap when we got ARod off the books. Now we have Parsons, which is awesome, but he is expensive and we have Clark’s dead money.

We need to sign Walker, Wyatt, Willis, Rhyan, Dobbs, Engabare, R Walker or their replacement. That is a lot of dollars that need to go around.

Everyone can cook the cap and not need to worry...soon we have a team full of Parson level quality. We can sign every free agent out there every year and not lose any of our players. Should be easy.

I wonder why Jerry Jones can't win an Owl. He is willing to spend whatever it takes as he is a multi billionaire. Why did he trade parsons instead of just cook the books?

If Willis balls out we need to make Dan lose leg 1 of the bet. Trade Love to cleveland (I must hate him) straight up for Garrett. Extend willis. Raise Lombardi. Honestly my business plan is much better than the underwear gnomes.

Are the gnomes talking to you now too? They won't leave me alone these days.

This would make for a good thread. Jerry has gotten a lot cheaper in recent years. And he is refusing to do early contract extensions with core players. Its an interesting turn.

As I recall, the Niners were supposedly in "cap hell" at some point too, and they kept right on winning. I'm sure there are other examples too, but of course, the usual suspects will dig up one of very few counter-examples.
Not originally. The Saints were just trying to keep the core pieces together, longer. Should sound familiar.

hahahaha My favorite charity is my wife's poorer relatives and their even poor neighbors down the street which we routinely donate to anyway. You are betting on those two items you mentioned?

Yes, I'd bet that Willis is a Packer next season. Number two is a little bit ambiguous. What if the Packers signed him for say $60 million for 4 years? That would be a wash, right? You lose on #1 and win on #2? I could see that happen with the contract structured so the cap it is $5 or 6 million or less.

Jones is a more extreme version of what I advocate for the Packers - never ever rebuild/stay strong and win, even if it means you don't get the ultimate prize. Aside from that, they've had a fairly big share of bad luck - injuries, etc. Ironically, their biggest weakness is DB, particularly Corner. Losing Diggs and Bland, and having neither of them recover to previous levels has really messed up their pass defense - kinda like the Jaire situation for the Packers. And as GREAT as Jones and his son have been a GMs regarding players, they have been crap when it comes to coach and coordinator selection, opting for old retreads, and I don't just mean McCarthy. Schottenheimer is no prize either. Worst of all, though, and probably the primary their defense this year sucks so bad is hiring the former Bear coach as their DC.

That would be both of us owe $100. Has to be a 501(c)3 charity.

My favorite accountant in here tends to discount the value of "yokozuma" assets, especially the offensive kind, just as I do. You can win with mediocrity there if your skill position assets are sufficient.

Hobbs and Nixon are truly shitty, hardly worthy of even being called assets, but cap space is not the reason for suffering with them as Corners. It was more like bad judgment with Hobbs. Going into this season, even the cap wimps would have to admit, we had plenty of space, even after locking up Love, signing Jacobs, etc. And if I recall, there were Corners out there who might have fit in real well, but inexplicably Gutekunst - who has been hot and cold in general as a GM - failed to reel in any of them.

Of your list of needed to sign, I'd make damn sure to sign Doubs. Depending on health, I'd go pretty high on Wyatt. As I've said, I'd pay "low first string QB" money for Willis. Engabarre I like, and he should be fairly cheap. Rhyan I like some, but he is "just a guy" and should be fairly cheap. R. Walker I don't much like. He's overrated IMO, and if he goes for anything significant, we should let him go. ALL of that can be done without much cap stress.

I'm 78 years old, and I've never given $100 total to charities (assuming churches don't count), and I don't intend to start now. If I lost, which I wouldn't, I'd rather give it to you than some damn charity. That being said, though, I prefer to not bet. Other than a brief interlude when internet betting first came around, I've never bet money on sports, and don't intend to - it turns good fun and enjoyment into stress.
