A crummy interior lineman is a weird hill to die on.
Just sayin'.
So is Bakhtiari being a bad pass blocker.

I think we established a while back that Tex is not the best judge of OL play.
Unless Myers turns it around in a big way, I don't see why they would give him a 2nd contract. Only thing way they do is if it's a cheapo 1-2 year deal where he's part of a competition at IOL -- he'll need to show C/G versatility.
He's just 'ok', and I don't why you reward mediocrity with a contract when you likely have an in-house replacement (Monk), others who could play C (Jenkins, Rhyan, or even Tom) in a pinch, and they could draft a younger, cheaper, likely better C if they really wanted to.
Re: Barton vs. Morgan, agree they would play differently at G. I think Morgan could have G/T versatility, where Barton is more C/G. Morgan does have really good mobility and I think GB thinks he has really good feet and athleticism to be a very good blocking on the move. (as a puller, reach blocks etc.)
As I said, the importance of the O Line in general is overrated. They didn't re-sign a very decent guy in Runyan, and I think it's safe to say that the team leadership regretted throwing a ton of money at the old sacred cow. Bakhtiari. In addition to the tons of money thrown away, we weren't significantly worse off if any after he was gone. Thus, they might decide to let Myers go if they figure he will cost too much, just like Runyan.
run pMc, based on the sum total of your posts, I do not consider you to be on the same level as several who I've correctly labeled dumbasses in here. As you say, If LaFleur. Stenavich, etc. had the same stupidly low opinion of Myers as those dumbasses, they certainly have plenty of options to replace him - which, of course, they have not.
And I'm still waiting for any of that lame-assed group of posters - or you - to explain how their stupidity about Myers could be true when we've had the best of our running success right through the Center/Guard gaps as well as how their stupidity could be true when hardly any of the pass rush is up the middle - it's almost all from the outside. Those blind damn fools don't answer that because they can't.

Historically-
I got the impression that with Aaron Jones, they actually did very well running wide zone concepts. He weighs about 190 so there's that too.
Dillon struggled - he's more north/south. Running him out of shotgun also did him a disservice. His vision is below average.
This season
Jacobs is a little more of an all-around back. He doesn't have Jones's burst, but he can get tough yards. I think Jenkins is having a much better year, and Rhyan is playing better currently than Runyan was at this time last year. As I mentioned Myers has had a couple of pretty good games this year too - along with some not-so-good (as has Rhyan). I think overall the OL is playing better than last year.
The Rams ends (Young and Verse) gave Tom some trouble -- he's a very good technician but a strong bullrush will sometimes give him problems. The passrush from the outside is easier to see on TV because ...well... it's the ends of the line and there's more viewer space.
As an aside - claiming that Myers is a keeper while also saying OL is overrated comes off as a face-saving argument - like if your original point is disproven you're going to just say the whole thing is pointless.
A dominant or even very good OL is not something to dismiss. Without the players DET has on their OL, Jared Goff would suck. With a better OL Joe Burrow would have a SB ring. Mahomes would have another (in fairness KC's issues were injuries on the OL in the TB-KC SB).
GB's Lombardi era is known for its OL.
You're certainly free to disagree, but I'm not sure you'd be correct. .
Edit: I'm 1000% fine with them not signing Runyan, especially for what the NYG signed him for. He's not woth a 10M/yr contract IMO.

Yeah, I agree, Runyan wasn't worth that much. Myers, much as I tend to like him, may not be either. I wonder when the time comes for Jenkins and/or Tom to be paid what it takes to keep them or not, what will happen. I tend to think it's not good to spend too much on O Linemen, and I suspect the Packer brass see it that way too.
Outside pass rush is easier to see in Packers games, why? Because there's a helluva lot more of it hahahaha. Our own pass rush, on the other hand, is a lot more often up the middle. Other teams in other games, that's the way it is too. Somebody in the middle of the Packers line is doing something right - may even that guy the dumbasses love to hate.
What you say about Goff and maybe also Burrow is true, maybe even a little bit with Mahomes. Goff is sadly immobile, Burrow not much better. Mahomes I think thrives with or without a good O Line because he is mobile - similar to Love and Rodgers before that.
What I remember with Aaron Jones is him gashing opponents up the middle many times, and very few times running outside - 1 or 2 nice exceptions, but not much.

A quick reaction, without much studying tells me that Rhyan really fucking blows at run blocking. Look at where the cutback occurs, or the general direction of the back at least from the point of handoff. A lot of veer left.
