Clearly the design was to prevent the QB from bouncing outside. It doesn't surprise me that they had no sacks, and few pressures from the DEs. They contained him very, very well. Mission accomplished.

Kind of like downgrading receivers because they had few targeted passes for the number of routes they ran. Nobody had a lot of targets because so many each had a couple targets,
That actually makes a lot of sense. Thanks.

OL played well. Putting Jenkins at C when Myers was hurt and going with Rhyan/Morgan at the G's was interesting move, but also makes sense if they are in your top 6. I thought Morgan did OK platooning at RG with Rhyan, although I also think Rhyan was better. I think the penallty on Rhyan was his first this year, and generally penalties didn't kill GB this game. AZ were killing themselves with penalties - they were really good coming into the game. AZ also looked slower on the wet grass to me.

MHJ leaving the game early was a blow to the offense, but not a big one. Jaire was excited for the matchup, I thought Wilson beat him a few times but he did ok. They were doing some interesting things in the secondary - 7 players for 5 spots... with Nixon playing outside.
Bullard is very good, but Williams is a baller. Dude just has instincts. The forced fumble was nice, but the TFL on the 3rd down Kyler Murray read-option was an eye opener. I haven't seen a safety do that for GB in ... years? ever? Savage whiffs on that tackle, Owens/Ford too.

I feel like the DBs are better coached this year -- they are handing bunched formations and things like that much better. Maybe that's McKinney communicating better too.
I also feel like the DL isn't as good -- yeah, they had to mush-rush and play containment, but I'm starting to sour a bit on Rebrovich as a coach. I think Hafley is a much better DC than Barry. Low bar, I know, but i feel like this defense if sstill under Barry causes this team to be 2-4 or 3-3 at this point with his soft zones and failure to handle mobile QBs.

I know PFF didn't love Christian Watson, but I thought he had a good game receiving and run blocking. Good to have him back after an ugly ankle injury.
Doubs being back helped too. I like Wicks but I agree with others that he doesn't quite seem ready yet. He'll get there, meantime Doubs is a dude. I think he's the only one (maybe outside of Reed) who catches that YOLO lob from Love for his 2nd TD.

Underrated in this one also was the TOP, especially in the first half. They run the ball a ton -- 38 carries for about 180 yards. They were on/ahead of schedule pretty often, which helped them convert downs. Love was good in this one, he's rounding into form. The offense is in general, they are explosive, they need to keep getting more efficient.

Would moving him to Will and having Cooper play Mike allow Quay to just play? I'm curious what people think. Quay is Quay. The dude is not this:

I think both Quay and Cooper are Will type of LB's.

Cooper is just more aggressive and has better instincts. I wonder if Quay's got to unlearn some Joe Barry teachings still.

Quay is bigger and stronger, but just as fast. I can't comment on Cooper's instincts yet because its just too early to say, but Quay is just much better around the LoS. Would anyone be shocked to see them mess around with him at edge next camp?
