  • I can't wrap my head around no one seemingly even talking to Belichick

    • I think some teams did reach out to him and he turned them down. Seems he's intent on building a program at UNC, my guess is they gave him a loaded Brinks truck too.

      • Saints hire Eagles OC Kellen Moore as their HC.

        New Orleans Kellen Moore
        New York Jets Aaron Glenn
        New England Mike Vrabel
        Dallas Brian Schottenheimer
        Jacksonville Liam Cohen
        Las Vegas Pete Carroll
        Chicago Ben Johnson

        • So many stupid hires. I understand time is undefeated and its a young man's game but does anyone think Jacksonville won't be doing this same song and dance in three years or less? Same with NYC. Kellen Moore? Really?

Vrable is a good hire and will stick The others I doubt. Glenn seems like a good hire but no doubt he'll be out in 3-4 years. Schottenheimer will certainly be out. Cohen out. Carroll is great but too old. I will take the under on 5 years for Ben Johnson.

          • Saints had to settle for Kellen Moore because almost nobody wants that job. They are in cap hell (54 million over) and have the same GM who got them there. Derek Carr has a cap hit of 51 million, and goes up to 61 million next year. Taysom Hill has a cap hit of 18 million. They have 10 players with a cap hit of over 10 million.

Vrabel, Ben Johnson and Cohen have the best chances of success because they at least have talented young QB's to work with.

            • POTENTIAL Winners:
              Vrabel
              Glenn
              Johnson

              It all begins with ownership.
              And attitude.
              And the front lines.

              • Brian Callahan's brief run as the head coach of the Titans came to an end early Monday afternoon when the team decided to fire him after a 1-5 start. Callahan, who was in just his second year on the job, exits with a 4-19 record in Tennessee.

                        • Why would anyone but a stupid and/or desperate owner want Belichik?

Tennessee ran out of patience pretty quick. Must not have seen any progress, even.

For those few who want LeFleur fired, he'd be hired in Tennessee before he could clean out his office in Green Bay.

Yup. And he wants too much control but then makes bad personnel decisions.

Ty Dunne, a few weeks ago, ran a piece on his SubStack about how Daboll had finally found his QB. The gist of the piece was that Daniel Jones was too low key for Daboll and that he would enjoy working with JaXXXson Dart more. So much for liking your co-workers being the key to success.

I like Ty and on balance he is a good beat reporter, but his close relationship with Bob McGinn* has caused him to be infected with Scout brain, and he repeats the inanities those scouts love to pass along as insider truths. Like Bob (the story of Sherman shutting scouts out of the draft process), Dunne has gotten some juicy stories (McDermott praising the close communication of 9/11 terrorists and the fiasco of the Bears Ryan Poles selecting Caleb Williams while running a sham draft process). But it also gives him headlines where the gist is the opposite of reality. Daboll was a dead man walking likely unfit for the job.

*McGinn writes for the site occasionally and does a podcast with Dunne weekly
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.
