  • Preston Smith to the Steel City

    Per Schefter
Swede: My expertise in this area is extensive. The essential difference between a "battleship" and an "aircraft carrier" is that an aircraft carrier requires five direct hits to sink, but it takes only four direct hits to sink a battleship.

What are we getting for him? TJ Watt? Ha ha ha ha.
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

A 7th rounder. I don't know. Seems like we could have done better than that.

We won’t get much, but it’s better than nothing. He was a good Packer and I wish him the best. He just wasn’t an ideal fit for the way our defense is evolving.

Our DLine isn't good as is. This seems like a mistake if we don't have someone to take his snaps.

If only a 7th, imo, that's kinda sucky. Then again, I think he was gone after this year anyway, he'd have to take another big pay cut, if and a big if, they still wanted him around. His salary was crazy next year and beyond. I guess better to get something now than nothing when he's cut.

I'd feel a little better if Van Ness was coming along nicely, but I haven't seen diddly from him this year.

Only cost us a $12M cap hit to trade him.

No cap hit to trade him.
Savings is from erasing his salary from the books in 2025.
His snaps have been drastically reduced since the beginning of the season.

We have $12M in dead cap now. It might offset what we were going to pay him for the rest of the year of not having to pay his salary anymore.

Spot rake has it at 8.8M. I am not sure but I trust Over The Cap's number more.

he needed to go, he wasn't adding much anymore

                        but really, just a 7th?

I was fine w/ letting him go last year. Same for Jaire and Quay.

It’s clear we need a vet in the WR to smack some stick stuff to these young pups gloves.

Among players who have rushed the passer at least 100 times this season, according to TruMedia, Smith ranked 143rd in pressure rate.

He has a $12 million dollar base salary nest year, so this is probably just for this year. Can't expect to get too much for that.
