  • THE OFFENSE ..... HMMM

OK, let's look at the other side.

We all were googly eyed (myself included) about the offense and many, including me, expected some dominance here.

But it's just not happening at so many levels. Our Red Zone offense kinda sucks. Our 3rd down conversion rate is not stellar. And I don't know where we rank in points per game, but it can't be anywhere near where we were hoping for.

Jordan Love, well he looks more like his Senior year in College than his Junior year. Keep his interception streak going last week to extend it to 8 games. Not a record any of us want. His decision making has been very flawed. JOSH JACOBS, REAL DEAL. Big blessing to nab him in free agency. Our offensive line seems good, but not great overall. Gotta worry about our 1st round pick but time will tell.

The wide receivers.....ya...lots of drops, but the lack of accuracy is not helping them either. Many of those drops are balls behind them, balls too low, and just not that good of throws.

And the crap Red Zone offense, has me really wondering if we DO need a legit #1 WR. I know Romeo whined his way into more targets and looked good for a couple game, but then he was not around last week. Watson has truly been a class act in silently just playing with class. Reed, I'm not sure where he is. Many of us thought after that one killer week he was our guy and a legit guy who can get open anytime needed, but he hasn't been. Wicks has his drops, but some of those passes are not where they should be. As is we seem to have a bunch of good guys.

So what is your view on our offense in week 12 ? I'd probably finish the same as I did with the defense.

RIght now it doesn't seem good enough to make a deep run into the playoffs.

Who's better in the NFC though? Detroit? Philly? SF? That's really it AFAICT. They have a punchers chance to get this thing done and get smoked by the Chiefs, Ravens, Steelers, or Bills.

I really do believe they will finish strong like last year. On Thanksgiving last year is when they finally started clicking and getting their shiz together. I suspect nearly identical thing will happen this year.

It all stems on Wicks. Wicks came out and exploded to finish strong. They need him to do the same thing year. That and AJO was an MVP maniac.

They overachieved in the second half of last season. I keep my expectations low to avoid disappointment.

About what I expected. They're 4th in yards gained and 8th in points scored. If people thought they would just pick up this year and look like the offense that had a stretch with 21 TD passes and 1 INT like last year, they were expecting too much.

            Disappointment.

I think the main concern for me is that the offense just does not seem in sync. At this point in the season everyone should have their shit together. As the leader of the offense and fresh off the big money a large amount of the blame is on Love.

Fix the red zone offense and, overall, the offense will be everything we hoped it would be. They are:

              4th in yards gained
              8th in points scored
27th (48.7%) scoring touchdowns on red zone possessions.

Where would they be in points scored if they were in the upper half or upper quarter in scoring TDs in the red zone?

That’s pretty much it. Love’s sloppy red zone work has been the big factor.

I won't put the blame only on Love. Play calls have been odd, and (that running back they signed to replace whatshisname) seems mostly forgotten in the red zone, even on short yardage.

I would say Lombardi’s red zone play calling is also suspect. What the hell os going on out there!

Sorry, I was reading an article about Lacy when I wrote what I did.
I'll quit posting now, after fixing my post.

                            100% on red zone efficiency.

That and too many drops, too many questionable plays (shotgun draw for 2pt conversion? Too many end arounds).

Why do we almost always run on 2nd and short. It’s a free down… and MLF has a run first approach. We had the ball on Bears 30 - I would thrown it deep 2x and then went for it on 4th. They run and get the lame extra down.

Ahhh P-Money don’t get mad homie. I do the same thing with the wide receivers group. I knew you meant Jacobs.
