  • Za'Darius Smith fined for not committing a penalty

Remember when Z. Smith launched himself toward Love's head, leading with his forearm, but managed to avoid a penalty in the officials' minds?

The league fined him for not committing that penalty.

So it was an infraction but not a penalty. I’m surprised they didn’t call that a penalty, as it seemed egregious in a league in which protecting QB’s has become paramount.

I thought it was. He actually jumped/raised up to hit him high. Just the type of thing that is usually an automatic flag.

Refs missed several calls, was not a good game for them. Maybe they should fine the refs.

7K is a drop in the bucket for a millionaire who gets away with an automatic 1st down/15 yard penalty for smacking the QB's head. Z will take that trade off everyday.

The fines should be issued live and shown on the screen like stats with season totals and league ranking.
