Draft some new CB’s and look to free agency.
We do not need another oft-injured player on a high dollar contract.
I doubt he would agree to a large salary reduction which is the only way we should consider keeping him.

Too much dead money on the cap if you cut or trade him. That's the reality. When he is healthy he is a good corner. The contract overall hurts, but that is hindsight.

No, the contract was written to be able to be cut next year, because his base jumps up to 16M. They save 7M if they cut him pre June 1 and 17.5M if they cut him after. He will be cut, only the designation is in question. Odds are good that he will be cut. He has only had 1 healthy season in the last 4. The only way they consider keeping him is if he agrees to a big pay cut, to the point where it is cheaper to keep him.

He will be cut or traded. He may have enough value to get a late round draft pick if another team would be willing to assume his salary. Depends upon what another team thinks his value might be. We get the signing bonus, but another team might feel like 16 million for a near pro bowl CB might be worth rolling the dice on his health.

Now he’s going for season ending surgery? Something doesn’t smell right here.

              Send him packing.
A lot of ppl think the PCL isn't important, but it's very important for CBs as they spend a majority of their time backpedaling with their knees flexed at nearly 90 degrees, which just happens to be the position where the PCL functions. Also, when you're running in a straight line - especially going forward- and have to stop suddenly, the PCL is what keeps your knee from dislocating posteriorly. PCL reconstruction surgery does not have the reliable outcomes as that of ACL surgery. This is a potentially devastating injury for a CB.

He’s not going to be back next year…which isn’t much of a loss because we barely had him this year.

I think it's 50/50 they release him, I suspect they want to see how his knee responds to the surgery. Agree you can't pay all that money to an undersized CB who misses half the games.
Typical: When he's healthy he's very good; problem is he's rarely healthy.

Would make sense for them to draft a couple of CBs; I'm not smitten with the current group of outside corners, and it's unlikely that anyone on the PS (Rochelle, Kalen King, Kamal Hadden) will make the jump from 'can't make the 53' to 'quality starter'.
I think they should let Stokes go too, unless they bring him back on a Dillon-deal for depth.

They're going to need to fix their pass rush as well. Gute's got his work cut out for him.

Yes he does. Nobody has much talked about it, but with Kenny Clark's play diminishing and TJ Slaton heading into his last year (I think), and Devonte Wyatt being an occasional pass-rush contributor, the interior of the line needs help.

This is true, and until recently I had IDL as a priority -- and might be where they go to boost pass rush. I'm not sold on Rebrovich as the DL coach and what he's done to improve/develop the line. All of them seem to have taken a step back, and maybe some of that is due to the switch to 4-3 or a new defense, but by now they should be used to it enough... and the results aren't there. From a draft perspective I think there might be better EDGE depth than IDL, but who knows. I will be stunned if Gute doesn't go heavy on defense this draft. New DCs usually mean at least some new personnel to fit.

TJ Slaton is a bit miscast in the Hafley 4-3 but will get a decent contract elsewhere. I could easily see someone like DEN or PIT bringing him in as a plugger.
Kenny has been a disappointment - he's been a very good player but he's not lived up to that contract extension this season.

We have a lot of cap next year and are thin at corner.

I can't see it. I think they keep Jaire through his contract.

You’re going to keep the 3rd highest paid CB in the league who has only been capable of playing half the games the last 3 years?
                          No, time to move on.

I think this will be an Aaron Jones situation. Packers will ask him to take a pay cut. He will refuse. Packers will wish him well.

Though probably not as warmly as they wished Aaron Jones well.
