Seems like a decent kick the tires type of FA signing. Hopefully DeVondre Campbell reclamation project 2.0:

Good pro. I don't really think he is a reclamation project, he has had success in the league. I'd love to land him on a fair contract.

Oh...we DID sign him. He is an athletic freak unlike most. He has LB size and S movement skills. There is a reason he was a top 10 pick. I remember him coming out. Hopefully we can unlock his best, but even what he has been is a solid player.

With a Raw Aphrodisiac Strength (RAS) of 99, this guy fucks. Can’t play football worth a fuck, though. Prototype “Jane” player.

I was pretty high on Simmons coming out Clemson, but he really didn't have a position, he played all over the field at Clemson. He could be a hybrid edge rusher, an off the ball linebacker, a dime safety for the Packers. I think they have to package him or figure out where he can contribute. He did play for the Cardinals and the Giants so maybe playing for a competent franchise will have a positive effect on his future.

More like possible Special Teams ace to compete with Welch. Simmons career got derailed by being bounced between LB and S, and he wasn't a finished product at either coming out of Clemson. Incredible athlete though, and even if you have bad technique or instincts you can have a good career being a ST demon if you want. They'd do well to give him a shot at LB or wherever in preseason to see if he can show anything, but at this point I doubt it. If the Giants don't want to keep him, he's probably not moving the needle much.

            Fun story at least.

You can play him in your nickel and dime sets, although Cooper needs to be on the field every down. Walker isn't a great cover LB, he fails to related to receivers in his zone and read the QB and break on the football. Walker has improved his play each season, but not sure if the coverage piece will ever be a strength. Simmons needs to work at a position and be part of a packaged defense if he is going to have an impact.

He has had success. 100 tackle seasons, some safety play. I always thought he wasn't being used correctly. I'm not saying he's a stud, just a solid player who isn't too proud to play ST well.
