Because he isn't a good blocker, he isn't seeing the field as much, greatly reducing his opportunities. Also, the poor play of the OLine means that TE's are needed to block more, putting even more of a premium on blocking. I expected a lot more from him this year as well.

Doubs and his gigantic helmet are one play away from being sidelined for month/career

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Packers have "no interest" in trading Doubs and have actually had "cursory talks" about a contract extension with the veteran wide receiver, who is coming off a big Week 4 performance.

I understand the point about concussions, but you could make that statement about every player. They're all one play away from being out for months or forever.

I don't think that's the best use of the Packers' budget - re-signing Doubs. I disagree with Sharpe, first of all - yes, everyone is in danger of being sidelined for a month or a career. But the concussions make it more likely for Doubs. And concussions will end your career more quickly than most other types of injuries. That's like saying to someone who has terminal late-stage cancer, "Well, you know, I could be hit by a bus or drop dead any day now, too." It's true, but it's far less likely than the terminally ill person dying sooner. And that's the real truth. So I'm with Fosco on that one.

Also, the way Quay Walker and Devonte Wyatt have been playing - wow. Quay Walker really has become what the team hoped - he's fast, he's all over the place, and it's hard to run on the Packers because even when a running back seems to be ready to cut loose in the open, Walker flashes in out of nowhere and takes the guy down. It reminds me of Tampa Bay's really good linebacker corps from a few years ago. And Devonte Wyatt, as we have seen when he's not in the game, has become a real pass rushing force.
So I'd rather see the Packers re-sign one or both of them rather than Doubs, who seems one more fragile, both physically and emotionally.

I wonder if Doubs will want to leave to go somewhere where he's targeted more. He's 53rd in the NFL in receiving yards, 73rd in targets. Love has a passer rating of 137.9 when targeting him. He may feel he can be a 1000 yard receiver on a team that doesn't spread the ball around so much. Doubs may want to look for greener pastures.

Of course. But it’s all about calculating risks.

You take two players - same specs (size, speed, outputs, etc). One has a documented history of concussions - the other does not. Who are you going to sign to a long term deal?

So what about Watson? He hasn’t done shit but get hurt. All that love he gets based on potential. Wouldn’t have gave him anything but a hand packing his shit.

I very much worry about Love losing his security blanket. He’s likely to go all Linus on us once that happens. Unless the Golden Boy steps into the role which is possible.

Yeah, I could see Golden step into that role. And exceeding it. Love wasn't afraid to go to him on 4th and 6 with the game on the line.

Yeah he doesn’t seem to big on anyone besides Doubs so that was a nice thing to see. Defenses will know there are two guys who likely to get called upon in the clutch.

I'm not arguing there's zero difference, but the number of players who's careers ended because of concussions maybe isn't as high as you think. People were sure Tua was going to be out of the League by now.
