The start of the Ben Johnson era starts with the team being booed off the field. The world is healing.I can't run no more

Wow, the Bears are a mess. How the hell did the Packers lose to them last year. The article the above linked to makes it sound even worse.Originally posted by Joemailman View PostThis article talks about reports that Caleb Williams has a learning disability. https://sports.yahoo.com/article/cal...185136719.html
Our series on the Chicago Bears begins with a look at the quarterback. His coaches from 2024 open up on a season from hell. ("There’s no substitute for the work. That’s something he needs to learn.")
If they weren't the Bears, I'd feel sorry for them.2025 Ratpickers champion.

I'm sorry but the implication that dyslexia would cause one to forget to signal a player into motion is about as dumb of a take as I have ever seen in the media. If only the guy could tell a b from a d he would have remembered to set his WR in motion. Does that make sense to anyone? Is dyslexia a lot more than a reading/writing disability and I'm just not aware of it??The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary -- Vince Lombardi

It affects people in different ways, but it's more than being able to tell a b from a d. The following could be a problem if he has these issues:Originally posted by bobblehead View PostI'm sorry but the implication that dyslexia would cause one to forget to signal a player into motion is about as dumb of a take as I have ever seen in the media. The impact that dyslexia has is different for each person and depends on the severity of the condition and the effectiveness of instruction or remediation. The core difficulty is with word recognition and reading fluency, spelling, and writing. Some individuals with dyslexia manage to learn early reading and spelling tasks, especially with excellent instruction, but later experience their most debilitating problems when more complex language skills are required, such as grammar, understanding textbook material, and writing essays.
People with dyslexia can also have problems with spoken language, even after they have been exposed to good language models in their homes and good language instruction in school. They may find it difficult to express themselves clearly, or to fully comprehend what others mean when they speak. Such language problems are often difficult to recognize, but they can lead to major problems in school, in the workplace, and in relating to other people.I can't run no more

So the argument is that he is functionally illiterate and has trouble understanding language but no one caught it until now. Meh. Sounds like an excuse for drafting the wrong guy and pretending it was just something no one saw coming. Maybe even a set up for them to have an excuse for giving up on him really fast. The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary -- Vince Lombardi

Poles basically prevented negative analysis of Williams during the pre-draft process. Here's the highlights of Dunne's articles:Originally posted by bobblehead View PostSo the argument is that he is functionally illiterate and has trouble understanding language but no one caught it until now. The Bears organization is a complete mess. Ben Johnson is in a bad situation. Maybe is second HC position will give him a chance to succeed.2025 Ratpickers champion.
