When the situation becomes clear that an employee will be let go, it's best for everyone involved and the business as a whole to do it immediately and begin the process of moving on.

MM received the balance of his salary, was relieved of uncertainty concerning his status and could begin moving on. The Packers could begin the process of finding his replacement. Who was harmed by it? No one.

This happens in the NFL and other pro sports all time.

Demoting Big Mike, the only GM in history who ain’t ever missed the playoffs (4 years minimum), was also a bitch move.

That's why so many NFL teams jumped at the chance to hire him.

Keeping him for a few weeks more when the decision to move on was already made was reqybecause. . .why?

They kept McCarthy about two years too long. Thompson, too. And Capers they kept too long by about twice that.

It was time. Coaching is the ultimate at-will job. Both parties know that.

Definitely, and surely he knew he was getting let go after the season. According to ChatGPT, there is no precedent or similar firing ever. That says something. Closest one is George Sieffert but he was in his in 3rd year, not his like 15th or whatever.

Lest we forget that less than two complete seasons before that they were in the NFCC.

                    It was a bitch move.

I just don't understand the issue. He lost the locker room. His stale predictable formations were allowing defenses to tee off on our players. He was paid well to sit on his fat ass. He was an intolerant prick who cut Ty Montgomery for a mistake that wasn't nearly that bad. I didn't see him deciding Ty deserved to play out the season for all his past contributions including changing the entire course of his career from WR to RB because the team had a need. Fat mike didn't say "shucks, the kid made a mistake". No he threw a tantrum and cut him.

Fuck Fat mike. Fuck him right in his oversized fat ass. I hope he is remembered for the shittiest coach too ever win an OWL who only had any success at all because Aaron Rodgers made it so.

Ty was insubordinate and disregarded the coaches instructions and cost the team a game.

He also wasn't one of the most successful players in NFL history with a long tenure as a member of the team.

It'd be like cutting ARod after a bad game. That's the equivalent with a player. They would obviously never do that.

You're being way too harsh to the guy and his achievements. He's one of the most successful coaches in NFL history and represented the G & G with all class. I too have my issues with game day occasionally but overall a pretty good coach and hard to argue with it. He proved he wasn't a one hit wonder with the success he had in Dallas, which is a very tough place to coach.

I think MILF is a very good coach fwiw, but he has a ways to go before he can match Big Mike.
