The Washington Commanders had 2 explosive plays on 65 total plays for a 3.1% explosive play rate.

That would have been the lowest explosive play rate in a single game all of last season.

The Lions were held to their lowest explosive play rate since 2021, when they went 3-13-1, last week

Nixon had five pass knock downs. Think Wyatt had two.

Felt like the defense dominated and the offense didn’t even play to potential. Damn this really does have the makings of a special season. Defense has fans like me complaining about allowing garbage points! Offense never really got hot and still put up 27 points that easily could have been 37.

He was all over the damn place. To think he was just a kick returner a few years ago.

They tried to go after Nixon and he showed up. Running game isn't as good as last year. Nearly everything else looks better.

Unfortunately, this is the youngest team in the league so they're only going to get better.

There was a lot to like. So I'm going to go Eeyore on everyone now, just to voice my concerns.

Slight concern: The running game. Yes, we can attribute last night's poor running game to having two backups playing on the line. But one was a first-round pick who's had time to develop. And there was nothing, nothing open in the middle of the line. Back in the day, a running back would buy his offensive line gifts for blocking for him - watches, that sort of thing. I think Brent bought Bakh a golf cart once, even. But this year's unit should be buying things for Josh Jacobs (maybe health insurance) because they've been awful at run blocking so far. The real concern for me here: what if Elgton Jenkins is no better than Josh Meyers and . . . TEX WAS RIGHT? Damn, that would suck.

Slightly larger concern: Rich Bisaccia. That guy seems to get a lot of say in the shaping of the roster for his ST group - yet they continue to rack up penalties and allow the occasional big kick return. They should be a top ST unit given the resources Bisaccia's been given, but they are not.

Largest concern: Love's lack of accuracy. Man, he's just not accurate. I'd hoped he would get better, but he's off quite often. He missed Golden on a big one down the middle - overthrow. He missed (I think?) Wicks in the end zone on a fourth down call. The receiver was wide open - if Love puts some air under it. But he didn't, and the corner basically was given a free PBU. Even on the completions, Love was throwing it, often, behind guys. He underthrew Kraft on his big play. He threw it behind Doubs once or twice, behind Wicks once or twice. Better coverage and those are PBU's. This is Love's sixth year in the leaguel, third as a starter. I am coming to the conclusion that he's a good NFL QB, but he's not next in the succession of Favre-Rodgers. Not even close. He also made some questionable decisions - handing the ball off to Jacobs even though prior to the snap the linebackers were creeping up. Finally, he's not a runner at all, is he? I think he ran for one first down, but he's not a running QB at all. I thought he might have that dimension to his game, but he doesn't.

Them's my concerns. Lots of pluses to that game, of course, most especially (for me) Wicks playing well and catching the ball. They're gonna need that guy.

I was too cheap to get Amazon so I stayed up late and watched on NFL Network. Good observation Fritz about the interior o line not doing very good without Meyers. Part of it was good D also It's not so much Jenkins doing bad at Center as it is not having him at Guard.

These were two damn good teams we beat and made look pretty ordinary. As good as it has been,it should only get better.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

How good Nixon was can't be understated. Daniels went after him. 6 targets, 1 completion for 9 yards, and as you said smuggler, it wasn't just 5 incompletions, it was 5 breakups where Nixon made it happen. Absolute stud. Jaire who? I can't declare him a shutdown corner quite yet, we have Jefferson on the slate 2x. But at a minimum don't get eaten alive by the true alphas and I think we found our guy.

Both teams sold out to stop the run. Detroit adjusted when we torched them and we had success after that. Washington was really hell bent on containing Jacobs. We all but abandon the run because they were stacking the box.

Love is a good QB as you say Fritz, he isn't Favre or Rodgers. We overpaid him just like all "good" QBs get overpaid now days. I can't definitively say he is better than Willis. I've been saying borderline top 10 for awhile now and I'll sort of stick with it....Maybe just outside top 10. The cream is clear with Allen, Mahomes, Jackson, Burrow....I still think Daniels which says how good I believe this D is. After that you have a cluster of 10 guys. Love is in that cluster somewhere.

There just aren't 32 guys who can play like those top 5, and being how important QB is having a top 5 guy is a big advantage. I just wish the NFL would stop paying the top 20 like the top 5 so it would be more competitive. Paying Love like Burrow puts us in a hole....but at least we aren't Jacksonville.

Agreed but who is Love's comp? Is he a game manager with some accuracy when he has a clean pocket, Alex Smith? Or is he a inaccurate gunslinger down field, Jeff George/Jay Cutler (without the interceptions). He definitely is not a running QB, that one last night was the first in a long time.

He didn't run last year because he injured his knee in the first game of the year.
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

I just came here to say:

                              Jaire who?

                              Kenny who?

                              And...

As "Cheeseheads" we're very blessed to have two guys on the team named Kraft and Colby.
