1st game I watched this year, what a mistake. The Pack was not just flat, they collapsed. Way too many penalties, Love had way too many poor throws, it was almost like the football gods were not gonna let the Browns lose today.

UGLY. Maddening.
Cue the Paper Tigers talk.
Try to remember it's Week 3, a lot can change by the time week 10 rolls around.
I would be curious to see how that CLE defense does against the McCarthy Vikes or Caleb Bears. They're good.
GB pissed this game away though.

The guy who blocked it was in the middle of the line against Morgan. He got a bit of a push, but the kick may have been low.Originally posted by bobblehead View PostLooked like Kraft just whiffed...wait so Morgan played RT, LG AND LT in this game?

Did you see the bottom 5 list? I think he may have earned a permanent starting gig based on that shit show.Originally posted by Bretsky View PostI think this guy has earned a long time of watching from the sidelines...this season..and today.... instead of seeing real game time
I'm used to wild over reactions after a loss. How about Micah not knowing how to line up with game on the line.....bench him for "a long time"?? Love throwing one of the top 5 worst picks I've seen in a couple years? Walker playing Morgans preferred position worse than Morgan has ever played it??
I could go on and on. I bet the browns for a reason. This was a team loss. Scapegoating the guy they brought in at a position he never took an NFL snap at then moving him a quarter later is a typical fan over reaction. Hardly surprising though. I should just stay away for a week after an ugly loss. And can Jacobs hold onto the fucking ball with game on the line? Bench that fucker for a long time.
Here's the bottom line. We paid a QB $50M that is worth $30M. We traded a ton and paid an edge like a QB. They both played poorly. But its the guy who we have bounce around every position that is to blame. And as for us doing that "all the time", true. But most of them disappoint until we settle them in. Jenkins is a good LG. He hasn't actually excelled anywhere else and was a mess at RT. Walker playing nothing but LT since he joined the team. Rhyan I think has been RG from the start. Tom is a unicorn and has played well all over. Thats about it. None of the other swapping all over the place has worked. I played LT. I can't imagine trying to change footwork, leverage, and hand tech over and over again. Its asking for failure....and we got what we asked for. A guy playing RT who never plays it and had to be thinking about leverage so he commits penalties because he isn't paying attention to other things and they aren't coming natural.

I hope you are right about Morgan long term; I never wanted him in the first place.
All this aside, LaFleur should get a ton of criticism for calling that pass when Jordan threw the duck. A. We have a QB who makes plenty of bad decisions. B. The Browns offense was non existent the whole game. Run the all and punt if needed. Mike Mccarthy would have finished that game with a win. He wasn't my preference at that pick. I wanted DeJean then already. He was a guy I thought we might grab with that early 2nd. But I've said it over and over. If you wanted a guy who could play guard primarily Barton should have been the pick. Gutes gets way to cute with the draft. Its one thing for me to cherry pick guys picked after our pick, but the guys I have consistently said I wanted ahead of time have been better than the picks and I spend very little time looking at prospects. Sweat over Gary. Trade back for Burns over Gary. Both would have been better. DeJean over Morgan. Simmons over Golden. Wilson over Hopper. Anyone over a RB in the 3rd round (I won't blame Lloyd, he hasn't been healthy). Broderick Jones over Van Ness (might still end up van ness is better, but not so far). Taking Bullard in the 2nd in a safety weak draft. Taking Quay ahead of Wyatt (we ended up getting wyatt so I was happy). Trading capital to get Watson instead of staying put and getting Pickens (or moving up much less).Originally posted by Bretsky View PostI hope you are right about Morgan long term; I never wanted him in the first place.

Wasn't a fan of the Jordan Morgan pick either, but he wasn't going to be there in R1 and the drop off after him at OL was nearing. Maybe they felt there was a greater dropoff (or better value) taking a T prospect over DeJean, IDK. It's also possible his medicals scared them off. I wonder if Gute has changed how he values CB (e.g., QB, LT and pass rusher being most valuable)
I think moving Morgan around has been detrimental to his development; from what I hear he's a LT only who can get you out of a game or two at LG but moving him around and asking him to play RT when he's barely ever done that is crazy. It's like when they shuffled Billy Turner to a new spot in the playoffs. I don't know if that's Steno or Butkus, but somebody isn't being smart. They obviously want to give Morgan (and Belton) real-game snaps now to help then with the idea they can take over full time next year and not look like rookies.
I think they should let Morgan focus on LT and LG, I think Belton and Kinnard can handle the right side backing up Rhyan and Tom.

He can probably be a good guard in time, but you are wasting 2-3 years of a rookie deal by moving him. He showed in the fake games that he could play LT right now against decent starting NFL talent. Every fiber of his muscle memory is built around playing LT. He has skills and likely can eventually be good somewhere else....but not EVERYWHERE else.Originally posted by run pMc View PostWasn't a fan of the Jordan Morgan pick either, but he wasn't going to be there in R1 and the drop off after him at OL was nearing. Last point and I'm done with the conversation. You can take a 4th round LT talent and say "hey, lets spend a couple years making him a good RG" and its fine. If you spend your first round pick on a 1st round LT talent and start bouncing him around EVERY position except center.....thats a waste of a pick. The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary -- Vince Lombardi
