  • Studs and Duds, Packers at Steelers, 2025

    Duds:
Nixon and 1st half offense (mostly the drops)

    Studs:
    Love, Parsons, 2nd half offense
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

For Watson to come back from that injury as fast as he did and then perform as well as he did says a ton about his commitment.

            Stud:

Quay, drawing the personal foul by Metcalf and NOT reacting. In control and professional. Kid's grown up, a lot.

Plenty of studs and still a few duds.

This was a satisfying game, sort of. I was as pissed off as LaFleur sounded when they interviewed him after the first half - pissed off at him, Hafley, Bisaccia, Gutekunst, and of course some players at that time. But they looked like they should, well maybe 80 or 90% like they should in the second half.

Obvious Studs: Love and Kraft. Almost as good: Watson, Doubs, Parsons, Gary, and Cooper. At least worth mentioning as studs: Wilson, Valentine, Jacobs, and Evan Williams.

Major Duds: Nixon, most of the O Line most of the time, McKinney - what the hell has happened to him this year compared to last year? Slightly dudish: McManus, although he was coming off the injury and the turf was apparently not very good (although it didn't bother the other team's kicker).

Hafley adjusted like a stud in the second half, unlike the way our D got worse in several other games. LaFleur's play calling and game plan also got better as the game went along, not really studish, but getting close.

Hopefully they turned a corner and will continue to improve as the schedule gets tougher.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

I did not see the game, but it sounds like McManus needs to start hitting some kicks ASAP or he'll be looking over his shoulder at Barney Fuckdoggle, who's still on the roster. After this game, any discussion of cutting Havrisik to make room for another player has very likely vanished.

By the way, how did Devote Wyatt play? I'll be curious to see how many snaps they played him.

Good on Halfley for adjusting after the second quarter. If he keeps that up, we'll half to start calling the break "Halfleytime."

Is this the game that marks Love as truly coming into his own?

He reminds me more of crazy "Did he really do that?" Brett Favre more than Aaron Rodgers.

Wyatt played very well, very active giving push up the middle. Every third and long, Half would stack Parsons behind the DT, you know how much Butte hates pressure up the middle, it forced him to rush a bunch of throws.

Pookie looked fucking large and in charge. IMO his game is a hybrid Hero Ball/Assassin; somewhere between Brent and Butte.

McManus needs to make the 45ish yard FG, buy I won't knock him too much for the long miss. It probably would have been good from 55. MLF said he was stretching things a bit with that kick based on what McManus was doing in warmups.

                        Wyatt played 34 snaps/54%.

Seems like it’d be easier to teach Havrisak how to boot kickoffs short of the goal line than teach McAnus how to boot a sixty yard FG.

I dunno. Easy to say from the bleachers.

McManus sucked last night with a dead leg. Would have cost big if it had been close game. Ship him out now so Hav can get playoff ready.
