As I said, I am all for Jordan Love as much as anybody. I also have always said I wouldn't be surprised if Rodgers plays to the same age as Brady did. I think he would be good for at least 1, maybe 2 or 3 more years, maybe even more - unless he just chose to retire. As good as Love is, I think Rodgers would be as good in the short term, and then of course, we'd have a ton of draft picks.

You dont trade starting QBs. Look how long multiple franchises having been trying to find one and year after year are drafting in the top 10.But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

This. Bears and Browns have been searching for years without success. Vikings have only found some success picking up aging QB's as their draft picks flame out.Originally posted by ThunderDan View PostYou dont trade starting QBs. You do when you have a Rodgers or Love on Clipboard Patrol and you think they could start. Otherwise, you're something something poker inside straight.Originally posted by ThunderDan View PostYou dont trade starting QBs. Also, you'd have to look at your soon-to-be-traded QB's contract and see how much cap space over how many seasons you're incinerating by making that trade. We've got Jordan Love for three seasons after this. A-A-Ron is a free agent after the Steelers lose in or miss the playoffs. And you're gonna lowball him for a hometown discount on his extension, rignt? Because he's Packer People, right?
EDIT: While I'm griping at the office window, you'd have to factor whether trading Love away will improve the Steelers' chances over the length of those picks' seasons. What does it profit a man to gain five 1st rounders when they're all in the 20-32 range? Yes, you're improving our teams' picks and scouting resources by dropping us out of the playoffs before Veterans' Day. [/end EDIT rant]
Your trade suggestion means you'd have to absolutely hit on an immediate NFL starter with that first draft pick, because Malik Willis is gone at the end of this season, too.
I'd love to see what Willis could do, even just to spell Love, but MaLF wants to either keep Love developing as a starter or keep teams from getting tape on Willis packages. I'm not yet sure Willis is a full-time starter. However, he'd be angling for low-end starter money from 32 teams, because he knows we're down to Clayton Tune, who could be signed any time by anyone in the NFC North to their Active Roster as a troll move.Last edited by NewsBruin; 10-28-2025, 12:08 PM.I believe in God, family, Baylor University, and the Green Bay Packers.

This is about what I expected hahahaha - a bunch of Rodgers hate.
As I said, I very much doubt this trade would ever happen. As I also said, I basically love Love and am completely satisfied with him as our QB. It's because of the Rodgers hate that I posted this. I still refer to him as the GOAT - as good or better overall to Brady. I think he could play at a high level for at least as long as Brady. Another year or two with him theoretically as our QB would undoubtedly be as good as the same year or two with Love. And for the longer term, 3 or 4 or 5 first round picks would be nice.
As for those other teams who couldn't find a decent QB for years, yeah, shit happens, but not always. There are a lot of other teams who did find great replacements fairly quick. Nix with Denver comes to mind, and I'm sure there were others. The teams that didn't? That might be attributable to the teams around those first round failures. The Bears, after all, as we all know, STILL SUCK and I don't think the Browns are a lot better overall team suckage-wise. I think the Packers being the Packers, whoever we would find would end up really great in the long term. What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

You and me, man. I'll be the Pee Wee Reese to your Jackie Robinson. We traded our starting quarterback so that Aaron Rodgers could be our starter. It worked in 2008; no reason it couldn't work 17 years later.Originally posted by texaspackerbacker View PostThis is about what I expected hahahaha - a bunch of Rodgers hate.I believe in God, family, Baylor University, and the Green Bay Packers.

Shit the best chance they had was when Brett joined them out of spite and that’s going on 20yrs now.Originally posted by MadScientist View PostThis.
