Swede: My expertise in this area is extensive. The essential difference between a "battleship" and an "aircraft carrier" is that an aircraft carrier requires five direct hits to sink, but it takes only four direct hits to sink a battleship.

Is there not a single practice squad player on the other 31 teams that we couldn’t poach for our active roster?
Surely there has to be one player that would help somewhere on our roster.
I was just thinking about this yesterday. Where's this year's version of Bruce Wilkerson/Howard Green to save this team?

Basically they need a guard who can come in and lock down one of the guard spots - take over for Morgan (RG) or Banks (LG), whoever is playing worse.

Its ironic that Brian Daboll loved JaXXXon Dart so much he left him in a game he didn't need to be in, ran him up the middle several times and got his head banged up enough to miss games.

That is the Brian Daboll experience in a nutshell.

It works if you have Josh Allen. Otherwise, good luck.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Justis Mosqueda has posited that the worst thing that could happen is that the Packers run all over the Giants and reinforce The Flower's idea that his current play-calling is just fine and needs no changing.

I get the point - I'm definitely with you, PB, that Brooks needs to come in as a blocker/outlet on obvious passing downs, at least third downs that are passing downs (which, with this team, is anything over three yards). The Flower needs to re-think and be flexible or he's just Mike McCarthy 2.0. But is it possible that running the ball against a shitty Gints run defense would allow the offensive line to work on the shit they've been awful at, and maybe get better?

I dunno. But at least short term, it'd be nice to see what this offense looks like when it can actually run the ball well. None of this 3.5 ypc, none of this Jacobs-gets-hit-before-he-even-gets-to-the-line-of-scrimmage stuff.

So: can an offensive line learn anything blocking against the Sisters of the Poor? Or is it just lipstick on a pig?

DL Lukas Van Ness (foot) was indeed back for Thursday’s padded practice on a sun-kissed Nitschke Field.

WR Matthew Golden also practicing after missing Monday’s game with a shoulder injury.

Only DNP is CB Nate Hobbs (knee).

Also, MarShawn Lloyd and Jayden Reed appear to have ramped up their rehab. Both still on IR so no photo or video allowed but they were working up a sweat off to the side.

I think they might go looking for Howard Green if O lineman, CBs and WR stop getting hurt.

Well, I just meant that off-the-rack player who doesn't seem like much but ends up being a key component of a championship team. Someone they pluck from another team's practice squad, or a vet who gets cut and seems to have little value.

That would be on offensive guard. Or two. Or a center. Something interior of the line.

I think the expanded taxi squad hurts that kind of talent hunt but you never know who is getting cut. I think Green got cut by the Jets when the Packers picked him up.

Yup. He was driving south towards home when he got a call from his agent telling him to turn around.

What's needed this week? Does a 13 - 10 win cut the mustard?

Its got to be a get right game to appease the masses. 28-14, something along those lines to show some signs of life on the offensive side of the ball.

Matthew Golden (shoulder), Christian Watson (knee/hamstring) set to practice today. Same with LVN (foot).

Aaron Banks, who is not on the injury report, rode the bike during stretch and did not go outside. Could be trying a different strategy with him?

                            Also no Nate Hobbs (knee).

From the #Packers: Packers K Brandon McManus (right quad) has been added to the injury report and is DOUBTFUL for tomorrow’s game at the New York Giants. WR Malik Heath (coach’s decision) will not travel with the team and will be OUT for tomorrow’s game against the Giants.
