I mean, is that not everyone? What do you propose they do to avoid that?

I don't care what you pay a coach if he doesn't have access to the athlete aspiring to become a football player you aren't in a good place.
Who do we like at DC? Minter is a guy who is supposedly getting HC consideration after going to the Chargers with Connor Stallions Harbaugh. But he might have pretty free reign with the Milk Man.

Flores isn't leaving his DC gig with a OC head coach for a similar situation.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Well, step one is to have a plan. But in this case, the plan was to continue as they were. So the lack of planning for a replacement was a sign the decision was made.

He might if he has a low opinion of JJ McCarthy and wants a chance at an Owl. But I think he's getting a HC job.

We need to get a DC who is good at tailoring his scheme to the talent a team has. As good as Hafley supposedly was, he was weak at that - a lot of single coverage with lame-assed Corners. I don't have any favorite name at present.

I'm not really knowledgeable enough to name DC candidates other than what I have seen them do in multiple places as DCs. Flores, Schwartz, Leonhard, Rex Ryan, Fangio. These are all guys I know can coach and run a scheme. I know nothing about Parker or Minter or Covington. Only what others say. Thats why the guys I name have proven records. I had no clue on Hafley before we brought him in. He was overall better than Barry, but end of the day his defenses started to look a lot like our previously collapsing units when he lost Parsons. So basically he had a nice first year and was good with parsons in year 2. Not sure how that made him HC material, but not my call, and I'm not heartbroken we lost him. I actually think it gives us an opportunity to improve with one of the above names.

Packers released CB Trevon Diggs, who played a total of 34 snaps -- 33 in the regular-season finale and 1 in the playoffs.

They signed two players to futures deals: QB Kyle McCord and DL Jaden Crumedy.

                McCord was a 6th-round pick of Carolina in 2024. Crumedy a 6th in 2025.

                  .
This was a good one on Reddit:

I sort of recall that cutting Diggs was a sure thing because of the massive contract he has. I would think there is still a distinct possibility of re-signing him for a more realistic amount of money.

                    • Regarding Diggs, I work with an over-the-top Dallas Cowboy fan/fanatic.

He strongly said Diggs was absolutely terrible in man to man defense. He just thought Diggs was terrible.

                      Maybe GB figured this out
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

Unless there was something in the contract that triggered after the season was over, it seems strange that the Packers would cut him now instead of closer to the start of the next NFL year. If they wanted him, they would have at least tried to negotiate a new contract while they still had his rights.

                        • I'm still puzzled they didn't use
Diggs in the playoff game. Valentine was sucky.

I just want to see the team cut Gary and Jenkins and not re-sign Quay Walker. Get the cap under control a little. Put the focus on the draft.

                          • Diggs played 1 snap in playoff game. Bears threw a bubble screen, and rather than go forward to break up the play, he backpedaled. He ended up making the tackle, but after a 12 yard gain. Either the coaching staff benched for the way he played it, or he got hurt making the tackle.

                            • They paid a lot of money to have someone come in and be sure more players didn't get injured. It doesn't mean Diggs was in their plan. He was a literal rental.
