Agree to disagree. You need to eliminate that thought and take the 3 points on that first drive of the game. If we had the game plays out differently, but 3 points in a slugfest is really valuable. I only see tex when someone quotes him....but yes, that is exactly what he does. I once dubbed him Walter Mitty. I think it fits like a non OJ glove.Originally posted by pbmax View PostDo you just imagine the world as your argument wishes it to be? Packers blitzed at a higher rate all game compared to the rest of the season, or did you miss that graphic too? It was over 40% for the game. Worked fine until the last two drives.
But when the Bears had to pass late, it burned them as the Packers didn't get home. The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary -- Vince Lombardi

I have done just this and I think you could easily make the argument that Gutes should give me the first 2 rounds then takeover from there.Originally posted by pbmax View PostNow do the picks you would have missed on.The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary -- Vince Lombardi

Now that I responded to a few things I'll say this. Its clear to me that Johnson was the talent in Detroit. He had his team so chippy and ready to play with fire that they got a bunch of unsportsmanlike calls. I hate to say it, but that's how you change a culture. It also gets you a reputation as a dirty coach. I have been in a text exchange with a close friend/ Bears fan. He didn't think the Love hit was "dirty". I told him it should have been an automatic ejection and was dirty as f***. In college it would be targeting. You simply can't lower your head and lead with the crown. The bears came out with the attitude of not just winning but inflicting pain. If we recover and make the playoffs and meet them again we have to match that. The final play of regulation the defender lifted Willis and drove him into the turf with all his weight (should have been a flag). I understand playing with an even keel and all, but you have to match that or you end up with 2 hurt QBs and a crushing loss. The bears played a dirty game. Bears fans don't see it that way because they are stupid. The nixon hit was almost an accident because Moore backed into him and then turned his back when Nixon "might" have been trying to run past him to get to the play.....bears fans tell me that was the dirtiest play of the game. Bias is fine, but thats just silly.

This is just McCarthy against the Seahawks thinking. Cannot play scared. The Bears D is not a slugfest unit. They can be had in the passing game.Originally posted by bobblehead View PostAgree to disagree. You need to eliminate that thought and take the 3 points on that first drive of the game. The only thing that would change my mind was if Jacobs couldn't do what he has done from 10 yards out all season and that's get into the endzone. If he can't, that is their best red zone threat and perhaps you dial it back.
But that is simply a condemnation of the pass offense. 3 years in they should be able to pass for a TD there.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Part of my gripe was we didn't run well on that first drive. Bears were amped up. We got 30 free yards cuz they are dicks. I knew we weren't getting that first (or at least I strongly suspected we weren't getting it)Originally posted by pbmax View PostThis is just McCarthy against the Seahawks thinking. I wonder if there was a better decision for Love to make on that play. If not, I don't like the playcall. I didn't have a problem with going for it - unless you knew you were going 0 for 200 in the redzone the rest of the game...Originally posted by pbmax View PostThis is just McCarthy against the Seahawks thinking. EDIT: Sorry, thought we were talking about the 4th and goal to go decision early on.Last edited by falco; 12-22-2025, 04:23 PM.Busting drunk drivers in Antarctica since 2006

On the 4th down I think he had a WR more open in the back corner but thats a dicey proposition guessing where his reads take him. I think the wind, his throw and Watson's route were all just a bit off. Love seemed off on that first drive, possibly because of that wind.Originally posted by falco View PostI wonder if there was a better decision for Love to make on that play. But to the larger point, I think Love gets more than 16 points total.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

What? Your words are a little hard to decipher, but it like you think you're saying something contrary to what I posted, when you're just saying the same thing. I SAID Hafley chose to blitz a lot - 40% or whatever. I was differentiating "chose" to blitz from Brady saying they "needed" to blitz. "Worked fine" most of the game? how many sacks did we get? None as I recall. I'm still not gonna criticize Hafley, as I consider him a lot more good than bad. He shoulda realized what crap Corners he had, though, and helped them out accordingly.Originally posted by pbmax View PostDo you just imagine the world as your argument wishes it to be? Fair enough, I thought you were continuing from the previous comment that Brady was wrong about helping corners and now possibly wrong about blitzing.Originally posted by texaspackerbacker View PostWhat? I should have read more closely, apologies.
I saw another replay yesterday and it looked like Xavier was a deep safety on that play but he had come up to intermediate depth. Which left Nixon solo on the deep post/sail. Might not have been a Cover 0 blitz.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

I suspect if we meet in the playoffs we might see a different attitude from the Packers.....or another loss.Originally posted by Fritz View PostThe only time success comes before work is in the dictionary -- Vince Lombardi

If the Packers can't get fired up after that last game and some of the dirty ass shit CHI was pulling, they need to collectively turn in their Man Cards.Originally posted by bobblehead View PostI suspect if we meet in the playoffs we might see a different attitude from the Packers.....or another loss.

Well, the wind was apparently a factor in the passing game - except on Chicago's last three drives.Originally posted by pbmax View PostThis is just McCarthy against the Seahawks thinking. Cannot play scared. The Bears D is not a slugfest unit. They can be had in the passing game.
