I think Love may be that, not sure, but I am very confident Willis is not that. I guess we'll see but how many dudes look good in clean-up and then flame out when starting?

LaFleur needs to have a tougher team, physically and mentally. I wish he had more of an edge like Dan Campbell but I also think that is hard to fake, so if it's not him, it's not him. Would be cool to see him get fired up about something and speak out of turn for a change.
I have seen both operate in identical situations several times over the last 2 years. Willis looks better. Just my 2 cents. Not mop up duty....actual starts and wins. He even came in and saved Love in one game where Love wasn't doing shit and Willis moved the offense. Given that Willis is in his 4th year right now and was a total project coming out, compare him to Love in year 4 when he finally got some starts. Love wasn't as far along.

As far as needing a star QB....Sam Darnold is probably going to win the Owl this year and has more wins over 2 years than any QB in the NFL. This is a guy who flamed out with the Jets, Panthers and the 49ers.

But Gutebag gets a free pass
We need a poll? I think my stance has been pretty clear.

I’ll have to set an alarm.

I wish that Policy would also open up the pocket book for assistants, so LeFleur can replace some of the duds he has with better assistants. Offensive line, for starters. Linebackers, for another.

Don't they pay fairly big money for Bisacchia? Throwing money at it isn't a solution, although I agree, these former head coaches might cost a bit. Getting one of them for DC would be good. For other positions, though, younger more innovative and/or fiery guys might be better than an expensive old reetread (Bisacchia).

The issue is the Packers are not giving themselves the opportunity to hire young innovative guys by opening up the pocketbooks a little. Instead, they promote from within, and/or move guys from one position group to another as if they're all the same. Examples:

Sean Mannion (2025): Promoted from offensive assistant to quarterbacks coach.
Sean Duggan (2025): Promoted from Laundry Manager to linebackers coach.
Connor Lewis (2025): Moved from special teams assistant to pass game specialist/game management.
Moe Howard (2023): Moved from Head Snow Shoveler to Assistant Strength and Training Coach.
Jason Rebrovich (2023): Promoted from Assistant Game-Tape Reviewer to pass rush specialist.
Luke Butkus (2022): Promoted from assistant offensive line coach to offensive line coach.
Jason Vrable (2024): Promoted from receivers coach to passing game coordinator.
Larry Metcalf (2024): Promoted from beer vendor to quality control defensive backs.

True, but maybe a third of those guys actually are pretty young and innovative - seemingly. (Mannion and Vrabel at least). The only one I have kinda a negative impression of is Luke Butkus.

I'm not sure any of these guys shine when you think of Really good coaches. I sure like Tom Clements when he was here. Ditto for James Campen. Thank of all the studs Holmgren once had in GB. That was a killer staff

                    • James Campen was hired by Mike Sherman as Asst OL coach. Promoted by McCarthy to OL Coach. Sometimes that works.

So apparently McCarthy is a better judge on when to elevate somebody than the Flower ))

I remember a lot of fire James Campen threads during McCarthy's time.

Yeah, I remember thinking maybe McCarthy had promoted him too soon. Aldo remember Packers OL then would tend to struggle early in the year, but improve as year wore on. There were times he was about as popular as Butkus is now.

That was my signature back then. Under Campen, the OLine always started the season poorly, however they would slowly improve and look decent at the end of the season. This year they fell apart when Tom went down. Looking bad at the end of the year is worse than at the beginning, but that doesn't mean being a sieve in September is good.
