Some of those rumors though started before the Packers traded Gary. Some had Gary as part of the trade. Don't think Packers have the draft capital to do a straight picks for Carter trade.

I think that is like anti trust. Triple damages if convicted....but its Jerruh. No one cares if we abuse him.

We would if we had signed Malik and traded Love. Gonna harp on this all season when Malik is in the MVP conversation.

It was not financially possible in my expert opinion.

But yes, let’s keep abusing Jerruh. If Guter can get a 2027 fourth for a guy he was going to release, how about sending Luke Musgrave to Dallas for a second rounder? Do it, Jerruh!

Is it time for Fritz and I, who hated the Gary pick in the first place, to play the I told you so cards ? Lol
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

I say again, this was a pretty fair trade. We got about as much as we could hope for, given his performance last season. And the Cowboys have a not too old guy who very well could come back and be close to star quality. I think his best spot would be DE in a 4-3 which the Cowboys have played a lot in the past (although maybe not full time this season).
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

Agree to an extent, Gary has to recover his form for this to be true, though its just a fourth round pick.

Less sure this was a good idea:

The Dallas Cowboys are borrowing a lot from the future to keep the recently traded Rashan Gary on their team in 2026. According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, the Cowboys got Gary to rework his deal into a two-year, $32 million contract ($16 million per year), slightly below the $18 million that he was set to make in cash in 2026. In exchange for a $6 million pay cut over two years, Gary got $16 million guaranteed as a backstop.

The x factor here is that Dallas added FOUR* void years to the two-year deal, meaning that on paper his signing bonus is spread over the cap through the 2030 season, and that if the team touches his contract again in 2027, it can be spread through 2031. Any money kicked into the future will accelerate to their cap as soon as the Cowboys choose to move on from him.
                  * Original article said six void years but Over The Cap has him with four void years.

Two Pro Bowl years. He wasn't dominant but was hardly a bust. Was also surprisingly good against the run even if he had the change of direction of a freight train.

PB, we must immediately discount any success in order to sound like we were correct. And do remember, Gary only played well for two short stretches. Hardly what you want from a #12 or whatever overall pick.

Of course. But it could be so much worse. He was far more than a bust. He just didn't dominate

I'd argue he dominated, but only for a short stretch of time. On the whole, he is a good player. Probably above average for where he was drafted.

Rashan Gary played above average for the 12th pick in the 1st round of the draft???
                              Not even close.

Does he make the Pro Bowl because nobody wanted to go, or because he was elite ?

Looking back, was he even the correct pick ?

I do think Fritz and I were right that Gary was overhyped.
