Coach Matt LaFleur will talk before practice today. The players will not. The team just announced there “will be no player availability today.”
My guess is MLF's PC will begin with a statement that he will have no comments on Jacobs' situation at this time.

Zach Tom is working hard and making progress but doesn’t anticipate him being back until training camp. Says Tucker looks so good it’s easy to want him out there now but still early in the process.

Matt LaFleur says he expects Micah Parsons will open training camp on PUP. He’s hopefully Tucker Kraft may be available for start of training camp, but decision hasn’t been made yet.

On the injury front, Packers HC Matt LaFleur said: • Micah Parsons will open training camp on PUP • The team is hopeful that Tucker Kraft will return by or during training camp • Zach Tom likely won't return until training camp

LaFleur said they cut Brandon McManus in part because they wanted to put rookie kicker Trey Smack in the best position possible. Also said they thought cutting McManus was doing right by him. Says Smack will get the majority of the reps.

Matt says you’re only limited by you imagination when asked if Savion Williams could play some running back for GB and says they want to get the ball in his hands but their focus right now is him at WR. Says they will let the process play out before any additions at RB.

          Here’s your starters in walkthrough:

          Sorrell - Hargrave - Brooks - LVN
          Coop - Zaire
          Nixon - Bullard - Valentine
          Williams - X

          Love
          Lloyd
          Musgrave
          Morgan - Banks - Rhyan - Benton - Kinnard

WRs were rotating aggressively but Golden, Savion, Reed, Watson, Moore were rotating in

            @AndyHermanNFL

Love looked like he was throwing a pass directly to Nixon who put his hands up to catch it but Watson screams in front of him for a beautiful catch on the run with his usual insane acceleration

Defense with a perfectly timed blitz off a canned call at the line. Love roll left and tried for Musgrave but a really nice pass breakup from Keisean.

Brandon Cisse fires through on a CB blitz for a “sack” of Kyle McCord and Jonathan Gannon sounds like Ric Flair out here.

They’re wearing shorts, this is not football, but Jordan Love just aired it out deep for Christian Watson. Evan Williams picks the underthrow and takes it the other way.

They have been here before without a true top line RB. Its time to run it back.

Sign Raymont Harris and Darick Holmes. And for the love of God, don't let Mike Holmgren anywhere near Josh Jones if he gets to play again. I still believe Mike the First was going to run Levens until something fell off.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

I take it you're talking about 1998. That was a strange, unbalanced offense. Favre throwing to Freeman and Chmura was about all they did well. And I assume you meant Josh Jacobs.

Yes, 1998 and yes Jacobs. I dunno whether auto correct or my short term memory got me there.

I really though Darick Holmes would prove to be the answer but he had very modest production. He was pretty productive as a receiver but as a runner he got what was blocked an not much else.

                    Notes:

Kinnard was at Tackle for Tom. Tom and Kraft were present for the practice. Parsons is expected later this week.

LVN and Sorrell started at edge with Cox rotating in.

Valentine was with the starters, Cisse rotated in.

D line was Hargrave, Brooks and Brinson started with McClellan rotated in.

MarShawn Lloyd was not involved in the 11 on 11 on Wednesday after going through individual drills. He did 11 on 11 Tuesday

Smack's kicking session was reported by packers.com featuring kicks between 25 and 35 yards out, Smack went 7/8. His miss was wide right. No idea if these were 25 to 35 yard kicks or if the ball was simply between the 25 and 35 (42 to 52 yard kicks).

                        Packers Wire

Gannon's defense opens in nickel in walkthrough as follows (see also Joe's post above):

It was Barryn Sorrell, Javon Hargrave, Chris Brooks and Lukas Van Ness as the four-man front, Edgerrin Cooper and Zaire Franklin at linebacker, Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine at outside corner, Javon Bullard in the slot, and Evan Williams and Xavier McKinney at safety.

                        Later...

In team drills later on, they came out in base initially, and interestingly, it was Warren Brinson at nose tackle, with Brooks and Brinson as the 3-4 defensive ends. The rest of the defense was the same, other than Bullard dropping to make way for Brinson.

Rookie Chris McClellan saw snaps with the first team, which is a positive sign, lining up as a 3-4 defensive end, a nickel defensive tackle and eventually a nose tackle during a walkthrough period. Nazir Stackhouse also subbed in at nose tackle. It was a day of heavy rotation on the D-line.

Speaking of rookies, Brandon Cisse got some first-team reps at cornerback during walkthroughs, as the Packers got their first two draft picks integrated with the ones early on.

The Bo Melton CB experiment is over. He is back to being listed as a receiver. Since he didn't play defense last year (despite CB issues) and he did take snaps on offense, it does make sense. Either way, he makes the team as a ST player more than anything else.

OTA's resume today, Tuesday, and Thursday. Not sure if there will be press access, or if press will have access to players afterwards.

                                Matt LaFleur:

Bo Melton has returned to full time receiver, no more cornerback. #Packers believe he provides solid depth as playmaker on offense.

Micah Parsons is in Green Bay. Not practicing yet as he recovers from torn ACL, of course, but LaFleur says Parsons’ leadership makes significant impact. As for the rehab? “From my eyes, he looks pretty good.”

MarShawn Lloyd will be doing team drills today. Last week was just a precaution.
