Packers' Favre throws 400th TD pass

      September 24, 2006

DETROIT (AP) -- Packers quarterback Brett Favre became the second player in NFL history to throw 400 career touchdown passes Sunday.

Favre threw a short pass to rookie receiver Greg Jennings, who turned the third-down play into a 75-yard touchdown in the first quarter against the Detroit Lions.

He reached the milestone in his 228th game, one more than Dan Marino needed to throw No. 400. Marino finished his career with 420 TD passes.

          Favre is the man!

However, I think he should have retired.

Make that 18. He ended the day with 402 if I recall correctly.

Yes, but we want Favre to BREAK the record, not just tie it.

If anyone truly thinks this guy is going to retire after this season, they need to replay that game today. Favre was having a lot of fun...and there is no reason for him not to come back next year because this team is only going to improve. His skills clearly have not eroded anywhere near what the stupid talking heads try to let on...unless 300 yard games with 3 TDs (which he has done 2 weeks in a row) are somehow poor NFL performance.

You can't overstate how great a game Favre had today. He played within himself, took what was there, and was very smart with the ball. I'll take a smart, precise game like this over the fireworks of the Monday night game against Oakland.

I don't know how many of these he's got in him, but I think he can do this often. He played smart and he got a win. He'll make the connection.

It was such a great offensive performance with a milestone reached, makes me wonder what kind of progress he's made on reaching all the other records that he's nearing.

                              3 games

                              71-120 (59%)
                              850 yards
                              6 TDs
                              3 INTs

                              over 16 games

                              378-640
                              4533 yards
                              32 TDs
                              16 INTs

Yeah...he should've retired...or he should be traded. He's clearly unable to put up any numbers with this team...considering those 16 game numbers would likely earn him his 4th MVP award.

The talking heads are a bunch of stupid nincompoops.
