I agree nice to have a kicker that can kick off, but if Longwell had missed the 40 some yarder last week we all would be crucifying him!!!Rayners been good but ya gotta makem from 40-49 if you want to be a big league kicker!!

Rayner has been good. Longwell did miss six FGs from 30-49 yards last year (including four from less than 40 yards), so you aren't going to be perfect. Missing a 45 yarder at Lambeau with wind (probably swirling) is going to happen. I'm not sure that Longwell would be doing any better than Rayner has on FGs. Rayner has missed one makeable FG, and that 45 yarder wasn't a gimme. His other two misses were from 53 yard and 54 yards. He also made one from 54 yards. Through five games I'm not sure our FG kicking would be any better with Longwell, and our kickoffs would be worse. If Rayner can continue to kick close to what Longwell would normally do, then it wasn't a bad deal for us because he's younger with a lot of potential and cheaper. Now, I totally expect Longwell to be better this year because he kicks more than half his games in a Dome. However, if Rayner keeps this up, we'll be fine there this year and have a potential stud down the line. It's only five games though. Very cool. The only thing better on kickoffs than a touchback is when the opposing team fumbles it away. Rayner is doing his job pretty well I would say and I think he will only get better. I hope he plays for us for a long while.C.H.U.D.Comment
