  • PICK YOUR ROSTER TO WIN A SUPER BOWL

OK, here's a bit of a challenge to all. On the drive up to Lambeau, my friend and I decided to go through every position and create the team that we'd want to take with us this year for a
ONE YEAR SUPER BOWL RUN TO WIN IT ALL. Assume good health for all.

I'd challenge the posters in here to give it a shot as well, or you can just critique what we came up with.

For the record we just selected the two top OG's and two top OT's w/o taking into account players that played on each side. We also omitted special teams.

Keep in mind we didn't have the luxury of looking up all the players so we were doing this purely off memory.

    OFFENSE

QB Payton Manning (there was much debate about Brady as well)

    C Olin Kreutz
    OG Mike Wahle
    OG Steve Hutchinson
    OT Walter Jones
    OT Orlando Pace

    RB Ladanion Tomlinson
    FB Lorenzo Neal

    TE Antonio Gates

    WR Tory Holt
    WR Steve Smith

    DEFENSE

    DT Marcus Stroud
    DT Tommie Harris
    DE Julius Peppers
    DE Michael Strahan

    MLB Jonathon Vilma
    OLB Shawn Merriman
    OLB Lance Briggs

    CB Champ Bailey
    CB DeAngelo Hall

    S Roy Williams
    S Brian Dawkins
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

What? No Packers on the list? I'm very disappointed.

No Urlacher... you keep Tory Holt. Besides that it's not bad... I'll create a list on my 8 hours of flying tomorrow that will whoop your fantasy ass

Did you have other parameters (i.e., assuming the other 30 players get paid, salary cap, etc...)?

Patler, what's the average starting yearly contract (22 players) for each team (take the median of that) and then we can really play...
The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have.

I had a hard time with MLB. Considered Ray Lewis. Vilma not having quite as great of a year. But didn't want Urlacher so went with Vilma.

        HOLT ??????????

Best route runner in the NFL, hands down. Your FF team will be at my mercy

        Cheers,

I'm fine with Brady too; don't you have a fullback ? You running the spread offense ? I'm not sure how good Chad Johson is; I'm starting to wonder if he is the most overhyped player in the NFL and possilby the second best WR on his team. I'd certainly take him as a legit 1, but I'm not sure if he's in my top tier of star WR's. Why'd Wolf draft Bubba over Bulluck again

Chad Johnson's consistent 95 catches for 1350 yards and 10 TDs (with or without Houshmandzadeh) don't do it for you? He had a pretty rough 4 game stretch, but he got beat up a lot. He'll rebound.

Honestly, for this team I might take Anquan Boldin. THEESman was right in that Boldin has a lot of Sterling Sharpe in him. He could be the guy that gains the tough yards--while Holt and Smith are stretching the field. Possibly, Andre Johnson also. Actually, scratch Chad for one of those two.

We don't need no stinkin' FB on this team.

Just like FFL; always trying to find ways to break the rules

I'd probably take Boldin as well. I'm watching Chad Johnson closely. He needs to do it for 2 years to meet my standards . He doesn't seem like the same player this year as of yet. Maybe it's the colored hair.

This doesn't make any sense. Chad's been doing it longer than Boldin. From 2003-2005 he averaged 94 receptions and 1350 yards.

No, I'm saying your comment that Johnson needs to do it for 2 years doesn't make any sense. He's been great for 4-5 years.

Actually, I think I'd go Andre Johnson, Chad Johnson, Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald. It's hard.
