WOW, Gbaja-Biamila to the Chargers!

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Linebacker Akbar Gbaja-Biamila signed a two-year contract Tuesday with the San Diego Chargers, who made room on the roster by waiving linebacker Nick Speegle.

Gbaja-Biamila had signed with San Diego in January, but was released on Sept. 2. He played for San Diego State.

They signed him because Merrimann is going to be suspended for subtance abuse.

Only sort of. Merriman is still active because his suspension has been appealed. To make room on the roster for Gbaja-Biamila they waived another linebacker. Gbaja-Biamila was let go by San Diego at the final roster cutdown and underwent minor knee surgery. He was out for 6 weeks because of it. He has know been re-signed to a two year contract.
