I think he means Vines. He played here. He started a lot of games for Detroit last year. Vines does make some sense, but I wonder if he's not injured or something. It doesn't seem like any team is giving him a look--even though he caught 40 balls last year and is relatively young yet."There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson

Yeah, I meant Vines. He has some exposure to Favre having been in camp and being waived on final cut in '03. Caught 40 balls last year, starting 11 games. Only 27. He was waived off PUP (groin) this season. You'd have to think he's recovered by now but maybe not. Still, what harm is there to bringing him in to see what he has for yourself? Maybe they did and don't advertise. I just hope they are checking all possibilities and not just reaching for Kiddie Corps. That's all I'm saying.Originally posted by HarveyWallbangersI think he means Vines. He played here. He started a lot of games for Detroit last year. Well, a few years back the Packers didn't have a stellar group of linebackers, but because of injuries at other positions they had to release Hunter Hillenmeyer. Now he starts for the Bears.Originally posted by redthe lions also have problems at WR this season, and have a complete team full of horrible players
yet they released this guy
what does that tell you?
The fact the Lions had to release a WR to sign a FB due to injuries doesn't mean the rookie is no good.

I think YOU'RE forgetting we're playing the Cardinals this weekend.Originally posted by redwith jennings doubtfull for this week, we're looking at driver, and 3 undrafted rookies with 3 career receptions for 37 yards between them as our 4 wr's this weekOriginally posted by woodbuck27
We need an experienced NFL WR.
that scares the hell out of me
i think we're all already forgetting just how horrible favre and this team looked last year when we had a team full of practice squad talent

the Cards defense is not bad; they've only allowed 2 TD's via the pass in one game this year out of the seven they have played. Our WR situation will make MM's job more challenging.TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

The Lions cant give up on Mike Williams already. Probably because they dont want his whole signing bonus to count against the cap this year.Originally posted by PatlerWell, a few years back the Packers didn't have a stellar group of linebackers, but because of injuries at other positions they had to release Hunter Hillenmeyer. I think the ARI D is decent, but I'd feel better with Jennings at #2 and either KoRo or Fergy as the #3. It will be a good test for the kiddie corps...DD is going to see double coverage, plus Rolle and Green aren't bad DB's.
I don't know if signing a vet guarantees an extra 1-2 wins or not, but I think you want the best players for your system on your squad. Some of the guys on the street don't fit because they can't or haven't played in a WCO. Nate Burleson is a decent receiver, but he's in the SEA doghouse cuz he's having trouble adapting to the WCO. Also, with a vet there are bigger salary considerations, as well as whether they've been suspended, whether they are team guys, etc.
Maybe I'm foolishly on the Ruvell bandwagon...but I thought Ruvell did some good things that don't get noticed (blocking, staying in bounds to run the clock down, awareness of the sidelines & 1sst down markers). On the last TD drive Francies came up big with that Favre pass...just running the right route & hanging on to the ball feels like improvement vs. last year's WR mess. Both have been thru camp, so they should know the system by now, and they stepped up. That builds confidence, and for a young team that's important. Now they gotta do it again.
I don't think Bodiford will see much time this week...expect lots of double TE stuff. If he's got talent, they'll keep him; if there's someone better I expect TT will bring them in for a tryout.
