6:00 PM): That's a lock... Any questions whether Southern California RB Reggie Bush was worthy of being the #1 player selected at the 2006 draft may have put to bed earlier today when the Trojans' star ran under 4.35 seconds for the 40 at the USC on-campus workout in front of an estimated 150 personnel people from around the NFL. Gil Brandt has the early results from the USC workout over at NFL.com however the positional drills are still on-going. While Bush was starring with his speed, LenDale White, USC's other back with firsdt-round potential, weighed in at 244 pounds but reportedly did not run which could hurt his draft status. QB Matt Leinart, who measured in at 6-6, 224, also reportedly chose not to run, but his fortunes were going to be determined by how well he threw the ball anyway.

Go to NFL.com for official times of all prospects from USC. Here is a little clip about he running surface.

    The results …
    SOUTHERN CAL: APRIL 2
They ran outdoors on AstroTurf, which was a fast surface. All 40-yard dash times were clocked electronically, which historically adds about .08 of a second to the actual time. For instance, if someone ran the 40 in 4.50 seconds, it really means he ran it in about 4.42 seconds.

Interesting to note, that Lendale White did not run.

Fred Matua, 6-3 300 pound guard ran a 5.1 forty and has moved up the draft boards, he also lefted 26 reps of 225.

Darnell Bing, 6-2 225, his forties were between a 4.53 and a 4.65. he had a 38 inch vertical jump.

Leinart didn't run but had a 37 inch verticle, which I thought was impressive.
He measured in at 6-6, 225 pounds.

That is a big vertical. I guess I didn't realise Lienart was so tall too.

        I'm assuming the 5.53 is a typo.

Thanks for assuming, yes he ran a slow 6.43. Amazingly he was able to bounce back and shave almost 2 seconds from his time on his second attempt.

Depends how serious his hammy injury is. Man, he pumped 225 10 times less than Reggie Bush. Some power back. Plus, I haven't liked his attitude since the first article I read on him. Somebody will likely get a good RB with him later in the draft, but I think I'd rather have Davin Joseph in round 2.

Honestly I think the Packers feel pretty good at running back right now with Green, Gado, and Davenport. I wouldn't expect to see the Packers taking White with their second round pick, unless he comes to Green Bay and knocks their socks off during the interview process. I also don't see White slipping past the first 40 picks though.

It is just not this forum. It had been a really slow draft week, with little being said in the media, and with also a very interesting beginning to the MLB season. Most GMs are zippering their lips and if they are saying anything at this points it is mostly going to be posturing.

Pipe dreaming for a bit, what if we did get Denver's #22 pick for Javon?

That would be a great place to pick up "best athlete available" from OL, D Back or D Line.
[QUOTE=George Cumby] ...every draft (Ted) would pick a solid, dependable, smart, athletically limited linebacker...the guy who isn't doing drugs, going to strip bars, knocking around his girlfriend or making any plays of game changing significance.
