Hmmmm, I thought face gaurding wasn't actually a foul......no way he touched the reciever.......where's a zebra when you need him......maybe Patler knows....

Didn't we have the "face guarding" question last week also? I believe it is clearly a penalty... The d-back has to at least make a "look" for the ball right?

I always thought so but I remember one color guy saying it wasn't technically a foul... so I'm not sure.....

I think it's a dumb rule. If the defender is close enough to the receiver that he can face guard, and not actually touch him, I say good play by the defense. That and the pro defender pushed receiver out of bounds calls are two of my least favorite. If a defender is close enough to push the receiver out of bounds, that's a great play. Plus, changing it would take the guess work out of the official's hands.

I agree on both counts, ecspecially the second...how in the hell is the ref supposed to know if the reciever WOULD have gotten both feet in?
