Didn't Dungy help invent the "TAMPA 2" defense when he was in Tampa?

The Bears are schitzo when it comes to defending the pass. And I think
T-Dungy and the Colts are just the team to expose the T2 defense.

Besides, nothing would make me happier than to see the Bears loose the Superbowl.

He didnt invent the 2deep. Pittsburg ran it in the 70's while he was playing there. He just brought in the light superfast LB's and fast d-line man. He slimmed the whole thing down and designed it to play with a lead. He ran it in MN when he was the DC.
George Perlas and the Steelers didn't invent the "cover 2", either. It was really a college defense, also called brackets. The Steelers went to it because of their massive D front. They doubled both WR's and let a LBer be responsible for the deep middle. Because that guy was Jack Lambert, it worked well.

Tony Dungy added his wrinkles to the cover 2 and it became the Tampa 2. Dungy plays his safeties way over the top of the wide outs. He also plays a 5 man zone at the first level with the CB's and LB's. As was said, a plugger has to be fast to play for Tony D.

Trying to figure who "invented" anything in football gets a bit tricky. Any time you say so & so invented something, somebody will point out that Walter Camp used to do the same thing in 1910!
Agreed. Thats why I didn't say that Pitt invented it. Its all about base 4-3 but add changes and make it your own.

All I know is Kurt Schott invented his own variation of the Cover 2 called "I thought he was your guy." :P
      I can't run no more
      With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
      Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
      A thundercloud
They're going to hear from me - Leonard Cohen

It would be very fitting if someone could could substitute a classic Jeff Garcia soundbit and use it for Rex Grossman's performance in Superbowl 41:

"Some of my passes weren't that crisp!"

Please feel free to add the lisp, otherwise the bit doesn't do justice.

I actually don't think Grossman played too bad. One of his picks was pretty awful, but I cannot fault him for trying to hit the homerun with Berrian how they did all year. It was crappy conditions and they knew unless they hit a homerun on one of those plays they were going to lose the game. They took a shot and it didn't pay off. I respect that, I guess. What I didn't like was Lovie's stupid grin during half the game. He looks like a jackass.

Super Bowls should be played in an enclosed stadium like Dallas or Minnesota or New Orleans. Those weather conditions sucked majorly.

I completely disagree, uncontrollable weather conditions are what football is all about. Playing throught the mud and the rain and the snow. Thats what makes football great, real men playing in all elements. Teams just have to rise to the occasion, and the only thing that rose was Grossman's deep balls. He could have thrown them out of a silo.
Chris: Dad, what's the blow-hole for?
Peter: I'll tell you what it's not for, son. And when I do, you'll understand why I can never go back to Sea World.

Ummm... I think he was being sarcastic. Probably what Bears fan were using as an excuse for their loss.

Bearman, where are you??? You're awfully quiet like all the Bears clowns here in Chicago.

Run your mouth when they win but run and hide when they lose. Typical Bears clown.

Now get ready to be dominated by Favre again!
