What happens if one of the teams, before they get a first down, score a TD on a long pass or run play, will you classify that as a first down?

Darn you.....lol I tried to pick the questions that there would be no questions about...lol

Any suggestions/comments people want to add? I don't think a long pass or run play TD should qualify but I'm open to the public opinion. I think it should be an "official" first down.

There's two sides to it. You could argue that the team moved the ball more than 10 yards in 4 or less downs, which is, technically, a first down. You could also argue that since they didn't "move the chains" it isn't a first down. I'd probably lean towards my first point, that a long TD is a first down.

A TD is a first down unless it comes on a return. So if a team scores on its first play by run or pass, it's also a first down. If a team's first score comes on a return, it's not a first down.
