The Packers don't have much depth behind Wells.
Unfortunately this doesn't appear to be a good draft for Centers.
The good thing is the Packers are unlikely to choose one the first day.

While Coston has been praised for attitude and work ethic, it may be he just doesn't have the intelligence or the experience to make the line calls.

A Center/Guard in the 5th round would not be unexpected.

i dont want a oline in the 1st, unless joe thomas somehow lands to us. i think we have more pressing needs at other positions and depth can always be added later in the draft or through the FA (atlanta cast offs)

All things being equal, I'd like to see them draft for a playmaker - but only if your playmaker is as good at his position as the offensive lineman is at his. But don't reach - if you can pick a "maybe" wide receiver or a tackle who you feel pretty certain can anchor the line for ten years, take the lineman.

Joe Thomas isn't dominant? Scouts are saying he is as good as Orlando Pace who is regarded as one of the best linemen prospects ever.

A guy I hope the Packers try to pursue is Joe Staley OT from Central Michigan. He's 6-5 300 pounds and runs a 4.75 40. That's just the guy that is needed in the ZBS. He big strong and fast, if we could get him in the second or third round I would be extremely happy.
Poppycock. Don't look at the 40 time ever for a linemen. Look at the 0-10 time and the agility drills. They are a much more accurate representation of what a linemen is supposed to do. With that said, I don't know anything about said prospect.

I had forgotten about Joe Thomas when typing that statement. I love Joe Thomas, and without question he is dominant, but no shot at him being in our range.

Good point. Not much call for an o-lineman to be running forty yeards downfield on too many plays.

Yep. I really liked Joe Thomas' response to what he would do at the combine, he said he didn't train for a 40 or anything like that because he really didn't care and doesn't think it should matter. The only time he's running 40 yards is when an interception is thrown which means he didn't do his job well enough.

JT is gonna be a good one. Good Brookfield kid. He seemed very broken up when that Homan kid passed away at La Crosse, whom I guess he was very good friends with. Seems to be that above a football player he has put being a good human, which is a mark of a successful man in my book.

I can't see ol in the first round as they picked up 2 pretty early last season and are pretty happy with them. I do assume they will pick at least 2 in the later rounds though.

Let's pick the best player available. But it wouldn't surprise me to see TT trade down in the first round.

The only thing that would surprise me is TT moving up in the first round. By the way, anybody know (with that points for each pick system) how far TT could move up in round one if he gave up his 2nd rounder?
