Adam Timmerman has played in 4 Super Bowls and multiple Pro Bowls.
His consecutive game streak ended last year at 204 games when he was injured in game 14 last year.

I always liked him as a player and note that keeping Earl Dotson instead of Timmerman was one of Ron Wolf's mistakes.

I do not think the Packers will be making an offer to him.
I am worried that he could wind up playing in Detroit or Chicago.

I donno if Timmerman is "starting" material anymore...but, he could come in as a vetran guy to help with those young guys, and gives us some depth...IF he would be willing to do so.

Saw this on NFL Network couple minutes ago and thought the same thing. He'd would be a great veteran presence for the younger guys. It just doesn't fit TT's MO. I'd love to see him back, but it probably won't happen.

It is the size of his contract that got him cut.
A 12 year veteran he still has good years left in him.

I never said he couldn't, I said I donno....as in, I donno. he's not young anymore, so you just never know. Plus I think GB is pretty "set" as far as their starting 5 and letting them develop.

Of all the FA's that we lost, this one probably pissed me off the most. Especially because he wanted to stay in GB and Wolf wouldn't even make him in offer.

I would love to have him back, but I'd like to see our OL continue to develop and I think he would command too much ching to not be a starter.

No, it wasn't a mistake at all. At that time the Packers had a lot of higher priced veterans, and they couldn't hope to keep them all. Wolf seemed to have replacements when the inevitable happened, and he had to let players go. The year before he let Aaron Taylor leave for one of the highest contracts for a guard ever. In stepped Marco Rivera to take his place. Timmerman left for more than Taylor got. The transition wasn't the smoothest, with Wahle, McKenzie and Verba all getting time the next two years at guard opposite Rivera before Wahle settled in, but it was good enough. Earl Dotson at tackle would have been more difficult to replace, so he was kept and Timmerman was allowed to walk. Wolf did not believe in paying big money to guards.

No, it wasn't a mistake at all. Earl Dotson at tackle would have been more difficult to replace, so he was kept and Timmerman was allowed to walk. Wolf did not believe in paying big money to guards.

My saying Wolf made a mistake is a 20/20 hindsight one.
I just did not like Earl and his penalties much.

I admired Earl Dotson. Late in his career he played through excruciating pain. Teammates admired his dedication and the effort he went through to be able to play. He played well, and during the middle of his carrer was talked up as potential Pro-Bowl material, not unlike Tauscher. Of course right tackles rarely make it

His penalties? Mostly false starts in domes where his hearing impairment made it difficult for him to hear Favre. As I understand it, he was quite hard of hearing. At least he had a reason, unlike Clifton. The coaches never criticized him for the false starts, but tried to work with him to develope other "keys" for the snap.
