  • Question about Patriots... Confused...

    Ok...

    Adalius Thomas five-year deal worth a total of $35 million. = 7 a year...

Wes Welker seven year worth a total of $38.5 million . = 5.5 a year...

    Kyle Brady with a two-year, $5.3 million deal. - 2.6 a year...

Sammy Morris - Morris received a four-year deal worth $7 million. He'll make $5 million over the first two years of the deal. - 2.5 a year (this year)...

Therefore this year... They spent around 17.5 / 18 million dollars in Free Agency...

$26,900,000 They have in Cap room which leaves them around 9 Mill for rookies...

It all makes sense... But now... They are looking to get Randy Moss...

Even if Randy moss goes to 5 mill a year... That would leave 4 mill for rookies ... Two which are first rounders... (HOW THE HELL CAN THEY GET MOSS, it makes no sense to me)...

    Someone explain...

Roster bonuses pushed out to other years do not count for this year. Workout bonuses, performance bonuses.

Would need the breakdown of the contracts to know for sure.

      Hey Sherlock.

They arn't 'in fact', in the hunt to acquire Randy Moss.

the biggest reason Oakland is pushing for Moss to go to NE, is cause they have the 2 1st round picks....they want one of those picks, so then they woulnd't have 2, #1's to pay for...they'd have #1 & Moss. (that might be more expensive )

Then the real deal becomes the cost to the CAP to sign Randy Moss. Not cheap.

Bottom line.If the Packers get Randy Moss I'll be shocked.

It's not in the stars, based entirely on all of Ted Thompson's moves to date.

Some may believe that losing Ahman Green may apply more pressure on Ted Thompson to deal for a playmaker on offense ala Moss. That isn't realistic based on my read of him.

The first year's cap number can be any number you wish it to be, outside of the year one salary, as that has to be above the minimum.

The average per year is only one possible option for the actual cap number.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

thats not how you figure this years cap number, thats not even close

the cap him for signing bonuses are spread over the length of a contract, up to 5 years. and players never make the same amount of money every year. most contracts are backloaded, meaning very small amounts at the begining of the contract, and very high numbers at the end

we'll really have no clue how the cap hits look until we get every single little bit of info on it, signing bonus, salaries every year, whatever roster bonuses and when they hit, incentives, etc.

so we have no clue right now, but its a safe bet to say the cap hits this year will be a lot less then you thought

maybe the patriots feel pissed after getting embarassed in the AFC champ game. i mean they lost after a 20-3 lead. we want to make sure that doesnt happen this year?
