  • Julius Jones

The Cowboys aren't exactly shopping Julius Jones, but they've told teams that have inquired about him that he's for sale for the right price. Cowboys owner-GM Jerry Jones apparently is prepared to hitch his wagon to the team's other young running back, Marion Barber.
    -- Philadelphia Daily News

Personally, I'm a huge fan of Julius Jones. I'd be ok with a trade for this guy.

If his brother Thomas, who is better in my opinion only goes for a traded flipped second then I say offer a third for this guy. I would feel great going into the season with him and Morency.

This possibility came up awhile ago.

I believe that Ted Thompson has to do more at RB then go with the status quo.

I believe he'll get that done.

Me too! He will either bring in a vet or draft someone or both and if Morency stays heathy we will be fine almost every team in the league is going with the two back attack, it is just too much wear and tear on them otherwise.

          I will stop here.

What I'm trying to do is research the RB's 5-10 and shorter that are productive in the NFL.

I'm not seeing many so far and we have two on OUR depth chart.

In our system size is not as important as vision, cut back speed, and burst. Warrick Dunn the smallest guy I have ever seen would do fine in our system, I will admit when he came into the league I thought he would last two years and get killed, I was wrong.

              Although they are retired:

              Emmitt Smith
              Barry Sanders
              Walter Payton
              etc.
              etc.

Actually your BEST RB's are 5-9 to 5-11, 215 to 225. It's simply a matter of physics. Would you want a tall 6'-3 225 guy trying to run through a hole or a guy 5'9 215 that sometimes can't be seen behind the o-line until he's by you. Who is harder to knock off their pins? And who lasts longer in the NFL. Not many 6'+ guys last over 8 years if they are the feature back.

There is certainly no lack of small RB's in the NFL. If what we have doesn't work then TT will look elsewhere.

These smaller backs can run over their pads easier.

I wouldn't go that far, but I do concede that he's reasonably handsome - for a guy.

This ought to be a hint to those of you who think we are "set" at RB with Morency, Beach & Herron... but sadly it probably isn't.
