The agent for free-agent defensive lineman Jimmy Wilkerson said he has not yet started contract negotiations with the Packers, but that could happen soon.

Joby Branion, who represents the 6-foot-2 and 290-pound Wilkerson, said his client’s visit to Green Bay on Tuesday went well and believes there is interest from both sides.

“Nothing’s happened yet, but I imagine that could happen soon,” Branion said. “I know he was impressed with his visit.”

Wilkerson is an unrestricted free agent who played the last four seasons for the Kansas City Chiefs. He can play both defensive end and defensive tackle, which would fit well with the Packers’ defensive scheme because they like versatile defensive linemen.

Branion wouldn’t say what kind of contract Wilkerson is seeking but did say the Chiefs have expressed interest in re-signing him.

What makes me laugh is thinking about Morency trying to run behind that line. They need another year of "seasoning". Could be good in 08. Should be sporadic this season as they were late last season.
So, if that is the case, then what exactly do you attribute Morency's higher ypc, higher yac, and triple as many big plays, and a much higher % of big plays per run.

I can't remember where it is anymore, but I think Harvey mapped out some very vital statistics regarding matchups and strength of schedule that focus on some of these points.
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

The more FA's he signs really cheaply, the more fans will be occupied or caught up in 'the haze'.

Better not repost it, it'll change how these guys FEEL about Morency. I don't know who they watched last year, but it wasn't him. Most of his yardage came in two games, I think.

I found it.... What the hell. Guess reality backs up my "supposed negativity". But remember... I just want to bash Thompson. I really didn't watch any of the games last season.

I serioiusly question Morency's durability though. I can't see him staying healthy. RB is our biggest need right now. RB and FB.
I'm assuming you mean YPC, and that can be misleading when comparing a starter to a backup. Turner had a better YPC than Tomlinson. Bennett had a better YPC than Larry Johnson.

So, in the games they were going against bad run defenses, Morency had 42 of his 91 rushing attempts. That's 46.1% of his rushing total. In those three games, Ahman had 21 of his 266 rushing attempts. That's 7.8% of his rushing total. Against bad run defenses.

Conversely, in the five games against the toughest rushing opponents, Ahman had 95 of his 266 rushing attempts. That's 35.7%. Morency had 14 of 91 rushing attempts. That's 15.3%. Against good run defenses.
