So both a Boston newspaper and a San Francisco newspaper have inside sources to the Packers front office? Do they have the same for all NFL teams, or is their readership that interested in the Packers that they developed those sources?
it looks like there just taking the crap thats out there and twisting it around to make their own little news
the harlan not wanting moss probably comes right from his interview at fan fest
I don't want to insult anyone here (like that's hard to do) but if you are naive enough to believe anything Thompson or Davis says prior to the draft then you are pretty naive about what goes on in the NFL. Their job is to keep their competition scrambling to figure out what they are going to do.
If the trade for Randy Moss is eminent, then you won't have a clue about what is really going to go down until draft day.
Think about it, the Raiders could then draft a WR with the #1 pick which could throw other teams off. Detroit and Minnesota both pick before us. We spent numerous draft picks trying to find someone to contain Moss. If they blow their first pick on someone who doesn't do that and then at #16 we make the deal, they are going to be scrambling to find someone to stop him. I think it's genius the way these guys work through it like that. I know mentioning Ted Thompson and the word Genius is a stretch but only Matt Millen would let someone know his intentions in the draft, it's kind of like GM 101.

OR, there is no trade but the Packers want the rest of the NFC north to think there may be. Although I think the deal would be in the 3rd round if there is going to be one. Additionally, we may be targeting a WR in round 1. If all the other teams think we are getting Moss, they may not trade ahead of us to get a WR. Lots of angles on this.
Could be, but the trade rumors are too loud on this one. They are coming out of the woodwork. I expect a trade during the draft, round 3 would be a good one since all three NFC North teams will have exhausted anyone worth anything the first year of their career by then.

That's an interesting thought. Harlan going public to stymie the acquisition of Moss. Never got the sense he would operate that way, or perhaps as outgoing CEO, maybe he is on the other side of both Thompson AND Jones?
Or is setting a backfire to counter the stories that Favre is pressuring the team to get Moss. Or is he reverse Al Davis, trying to drive the price down.
Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of Our Packers....

shows you how much of a joke the media is
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.
its possible Davis is just posturing..what is he gonna say "yeah, they offered me this crappy deal and im gonna have to take it cuz theres nothing else i can do"
''Asked if there were ANY discussions between the Raiders and the Packers.
"No. They called once, I gave them 2 options. Their #1 pick for Randy Moss, or Aaron Rodgers, and 2nd round pick, and next years 3rd round pick for Randy Moss. They said no, and they haven't called back." ND72
The above says that 'the Packers' offered only a NO to Al Davis's proposal.
A proposal that is preposterous. A proposal that ties Ted Thompson's hands in regards to acquiring Randy Moss non-withstanding all else.

"The Raider coaching staff was told to take a close look at KGB on film. Looks like Moss is gone for KGB."
^ on raiders forum...
quotes from posters...
"they were told that cuz they weren't sure he was still in the league"
"If they watch the 49er game they can see Gore run right at KGB and then see KGB get benched in favor of Cullen Jenkins in the 2nd half. Jenkins then started the last 3 games at RDE in place of KGB."
"KGB has a pretty phat contract too - I would rather get someone else but beggars can't be choosers."
haha... pretty entertaining down there in raider land ...

This "rumor" has no link yet (SO DON'T FLAME ME)
Yup.
Any rumor that includes KGB as a part of a trade does make some sense.

I would have laughed too--if that was an actual proposal.
"There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson
I don't know if Moss will ever end up being a Packer, but he WON'T play another down for Oakland. If he's not traded to ANY team or cut, Al is even more senile than I ever thought.

Peter King at S.I. wrote basically the same thing Al Davis said :
"I think Randy Moss is not getting traded unless someone offers the Raiders something significant. Like a high second-round pick. They're not taking less than the Patriots dealt for Wes Welker (a two and a seven), that's for sure. I'm also told that the Packers have had not only had no substantive discussions with the Raiders for Moss this offseason, but as G.M. Ted Thompson said this weekend, they've had no discussions with the Raiders for Moss.
So how does such a story like this spring to life, a life that has no end in Sports Talk America and Sports Blog America? My theory is that because a story may make sense -- in this case, the Packers being interested in a star wide receiver at a bargain price; because the current editions of the Raiders and Packers are relatively source-proof (and I say "relatively,'' because every organization has sources); and because Al Davis is as mysterious as ever, that a story can take on a major-league life with one tiny tidbit repeated 63 times. We seem to love gossip in this country. And why should sports be different than Hollywood?"
Lance Allen on TMJ4 just said that on a phone interview with Harlan, that San Francisco Paper report was 100% NOT TRUE. He said he has NEVER told Thompson he doesn't want Randy Moss. He DID say that Thompson has talked to him about Moss. He also said that from what he's gathered from the fans, its 60/40 that the fans don't want Moss. He stands by his motive that football people make the football decisions though.
