  • Briggs to the Redskins?!?

    This is from PFT:
Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the Redskins and Bears are contemplating a trade that would send the No. 6 overall pick to Chicago for linebacker Lance Briggs and the No. 31 overall pick in the draft.

But didn't the 'Skins learn last year the folly of trying to force a Tampa 2 specialist into Gregg Williams' defense? Though we can't fault Adam Archuleta for taking $10 million guaranteed, the Redskins should have considered more carefully the question of whether the player would fit within the system.

Briggs' success possibly is a product of his role as the weakside linebacker in the Tampa 2 defense, which gives him a lot of freedom to roam in open space and make tackles. As the "will" in a traditional 4-3, will he be as effective?

It's a big risk for the Redskins to take, in our view. But we have a feeling that owner Dan Snyder (who has been uncharacteristically quiet in free agency) is itching to make a big deal, especially at a time when he's rubbing elbows with his 31 partners/competitors at the NFL's 2007 Annual Meeting.

Holly crap...the Bears with the 6th pick!? I hope they choose a bust!

They would be losing a stud player in Briggs and would also be big time players in the draft. Remember, they have an early second rounder along with their own second. I've heard that they have interest in CJ.

That'd be interesting if the Bears had the #6 and Brady Quinn was sitting right there.

It's so hard to figure out who's getting the better end of this deal that it just might be true.

That wouldn't be interesting, that would be horrible.

I would rather the Bears get Brady Quinn than to trade up and get CJ!

If the Bears couldn't get CJ at #6, I think they go with Branch, and tell Tank Johnson to take a hike.

If that's true, then they have to be looking at taking Quinn, CJ gone by 6, and AP might be there, but they got CB which they already used a top pick on.

Trade up to get CJ. Yup, that would suck.

wITH TWO SECOND ROUNDERS, TRADING UP WOULD BE NO PROBLEM. DDetroit would probably do this in a heartbeat.

2 second rounders? Bears don't have 2, 2nd round picks. Falcons do. Which is why I'm thinking, if the Raiders don't take CJ, the Falcons are goign to package basically what they got for Schuab for Detroit and take CJ.

Forgot they swapped second rounders but they do have the fifth pick in round two which could be used to move up from the 6 spot if they are targeting the best player in this draft. Atlanta is also considered to have interest in AP and CJ.
