  • I gotta go and have a good cry somewhere...

I'm trying to look at the plus side of this but this is depressing. If he wanted to go defense, fine. Then what about Griffin, Nelson,,,,

    • We'll pick a WR in the 2nd or trade for Moss. Rice will probably be there at pick 16 in rd. 2, he would have been a top 20 pick next year.

What's so great about this pick is now we have 2 run-stuffing DT's and we have pass rushing DT's to bring in on nickel downs.

With all the needs we have, I figured no way in hell Teddy could screw this up. Well, foolish me cause he screwed up big-time.
It's ALL about retiring Brett Favre.

If you see or believe that then TT's non actions make perfect sense.

He's not a good GM for us.

Not a reach at all, this guy would have been a top 6-8 pick if he had not torn his bicep this year. Think Casey Hampton, Steelers. This guys is going to be a rock next to Pickett.

          Way to go TT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Right on - only the injury had Harrell drop. He's a leader and a warrior - lockerroom general and shows the goods on the field too.

DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS - REMEMBER THAT...ALWAYS! Pack D was # 1 in latest SB win year; Lombardi era had defense too. Defense rules.

          • DT

IF your gonna draft a DT in the first rd, he had better be able to collapse the pocket. This kid can't and never will. It's his major weakness. The reason the Bears DT's are so good is because they excel at inside pressure. Any idiot knows, QB's hate inside pressure.

            • I am not a fan of this pick...mostly because I think Harrell is too much like Pickett. However, with guys like Hawk and Barnett signed long term, we need big bodies up front to let them make plays with their speed.

Thompson clearly feels this guy has premium top 10 ability. I think I prefer Harrell to Okoye or Branch in terms of short term potential...but if we were going to go defense, I would've preferred Willis or Nelson.

The addition of Harrell continues to the youth movement of the defensive side. Thompson is building this team around a tough defense. I thought the pick here could have been Alan Branch or a playmaking WR. Harrell is an impresive athlete for his size, but has never been a really effective inside pass rusher. But he has potenital to develop into a good two down player in the NFL. It is a little bit of a reach in our view since he was ranked 30th on our board.

                • The game is won in the trenches and DT is a very important position. I was actually hoping we would trade with the Browns for their number two and Braylon Edwards.

                  • Did a little research on Harrell and found this.

Last man to wear No. 92, Reggie White's jersey. "That was for a reason," Angelo said. "Very talented guy. In the end, he could be the best DT." Would have started for three seasons but suffered a torn biceps in Week 3 of 2006 and had surgery. "He's a two-gap nose tackle," said Ross. "Not going to give you a lot of pass rush, range and stuff. If you want somebody just to sit in there and plug it up in the middle, he's the guy." Finished with 82 tackles (14 for loss) and four sacks. His Wonderlic score of 24 was high among top D-tackles. "Good use of hands to shed, good short pursuit, real tough and doesn't take downs off," one scout said. "More of a bull rusher and a pocket pusher."

                            Pretty hilarious.

As for Quinn, we'll see how Arod does and compare it to Quinn. I have a feeling Packer fans will look back and say "what if?"

Justin "f*cking" Harrell at 16! HAHAHAHHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHA

Maybe he tried to trade down but couldn't? I still would have drafted Nelson first.
Yeah, just the team behind them trades down. What a f*cking choke job.

                            • So if Harrell's injury cost him a Top 10 pick, can anyone explain to me what exactly a ruptured bicep tendon is?

I take it it's not nearly as disastrous as MCL tear. If a collarbone was red flagging a bunch of scouts, wouldn't a ruptured bicep tendon be considered worse than a collarbone?

Anyone on here a doctor involved w/sports medicine.

                              • You guys are underestimating how good Robinson could be, and Jennings in his second year, not to mention the young guys we have that played well in the Bears game. DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE. The offense will be there if the o line continues improving. if Brett has time, he can make a star out of ANY of the receivers we already have. Period.
