  • Skins looking to trade for "pass rusher"

    ESPN rumor central

    Skins on the defensive
<May. 7> The Redskins, who did not draft a defensive lineman, will spend the summer searching for veteran pass-rushing help, according to Pro Football Weekly. Insiders say the Skins have called around to ask about any ends who might be available via trade.

KGB??? Can we get a first? haha

Did they call, or will they contact the Pack?

For who... maybe KGB ? He's carrying a pretty big contract for the 'Skins to absorb...

Whats the rush to trade KGB? We have the cap room to keep him and by trading him then we are losing our best pass rusher. Plus its not like we have a lot of depth at DE.

Not sure what the "rush" is you refer to, just asking questions..

With KGB's move to a "passing down" player, the question is, do the Redskins come after him as a pass rush specialist... His history shows he is suspect as an every down defensive end, but the Packers are paying him "elite" defensive end dollars...

I think he is a very good situational player, has great speed, although only one true "move" up the field... cannot beat the good left tackles on a consistant basis, and I question if the Packers don't pass up a fairly decent trade offer for him.

Could we trade 'em Jamal Reynolds for a 5th rounder. I bet we could sneak that by 'em. Snyder sees "1st round pick" and kinda loses it....

It just seems likely that IF the Packers were interested in trading a DE, it would probably be KGB. He's getting older and his production has trailed off. Maybe only using him on passing downs will help.

Maybe we could "toss" in Tony Mandarich?

Maybe his name recognition and status as a failed full time player, but effective part time player might garner some trade value. I'd do it for a 4th, as I don't place much value on guys who can't defend the run at all.

Well, say one of our starting D's get hurt this year. Sure would be nice to have KGB as a replacement starter for a few games. Depth is huge.

I for one am not one of those people ready to through KGB under the bus. It wasn't his fault he was put into the role he was. I say give him this season to prove he can do it in situations like he used to. He sure looked a lot better at rushing the passer at the end of the season in 2006 when he was replaced as the fulltime DE by Jenkins.

if kgb would be traded and he agreed to a contract worth less than he's getting from the pack, would the pack be responsible for the difference in pay?

Situational pass rushers are valuable in this league. I certainly wouldn't let KGB go for anything less than a second, and after draft day the price on these sorts of things goes up. If anybody is thinking of giving up KGB for a pittance, remember how much we paid for R-Kal Truluck.
