  • Keyshawn to retire

Free-agent WR Keyshawn Johnson has declined an offer from the Tennessee Titans and has decided to retire. The wide receiver, who also expected to receive an offer from the Oakland Raiders, is expected to announce his decision at a Wednesday afternoon news conference at his alma mater of USC, his agent, Jerome Stanley, told ESPN.com's John Clayton. Stanley said Johnson is expected to pursue a broadcasting career. "The timing of it was just right," Stanley said. "There were a couple of slots open in broadcasting. He was either going to retire this year or next year, but the timing just turned out to be right now."

Has W. Henderson announced his retirement? If so, I wonder why ESPN didn't offer him a gig - he did a great job covering the draft the year before last, IMO!

What do the Packer fans who demanded, "Sign Keyshawn now!" have to say about his retirement?

Not all that shocking...why spend the remainder of your career as a role player on poor teams?

He probably can earn a decent amount as a talking head, and not have to worry about waking up sore 3-4 days a week.

I'm glad he retired. Maybe he can replace Michael Irvin on ESPN.

I’m glad he never became a Packer. Never liked his “Give me the damn ball” attitude. I remember when he was drafted. He was all cocky and thought he was God’s greatest gift to football.

He acted too much like Michael Irvin!

I guess we can agree on this at least. I think he should have been fired retroactively.....

Good, getting this guy would have felt like eating party leftovers the next day. Likely cold and not as good as what you could have gotten the day before.
