    Packers Release RB Arliss Beach

The Green Bay Packers Friday released running back Arliss Beach. Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson made the announcement. Beach spent last season on injured reserve after signing with the team as a non-drafted free agent on May 5, 2006....

    NOTE: EYES CHECKED.

TT will cut the deadwood early to enable the coaching staff to utilize it's time on the real players.

Yet the more I think about this move I must have some surprize at the timing here; specifically given the weakness we are perceived to have at RB.

TT can call this fella back if needed and available.

I'm seeing at RB Morency and Jackson of course and Herron or Wynn or Pope for the third spot.

The FB's will be two of Miree,Hall,White or Powdrell.

Interesting that Miree and Hall are both listed at 6 ft. and 236 lbs.

While all of you were on the Beach bangwagon, I jumped on the Pope bandwagon awhile back. I see a backfield of Morency, Jackson, Pope, Miree, and either Hall or Wynn.

It appears to me as if there is still some confidence in RF.

We are not that deep at WR and that's what keeps him living in Green Bay.

Really today. . . after Donald Driver.

Who can we really place much hope in at WR?

Something tells me that Wynn is going to surprise everyone.

Wow, I'm very surprised they'd do it this early. Why not bring him to camp and let him compete?

I do believe I was first on the Pope bandwagon. I still think he'd be a good 3rd down back. He had good hands at BG.

                    One of 2 things:

                    1. Some personal issue that will not be made public

                    2. TT is sure he has enough better rbs on the roster and wants to give Beach the best shot at hooking up with another team by releasing him before TC.

..or it could be a third thing:

                      3. TT is sure he has enough better rbs on the roster and he couldn't care less if Beach hooks up with anyone else or not, BUT with 90 signed players and unsigned draft picks he is way over the limit for the number of signed players allowed. He will have to release some to sign all the rookies anyway.

Actually, one could coombine the Beach and Freeman stories. If the Packers are at the max for signed players in the off season, and if they did sign Freeman today so he can retire as a Packer, they may have had to release someone. If Beach was #10 of the 10 rbs on the roster, why not release him? How many do you need for TC?

Not a Beachnut but faithful believer in the infallibility of Pope, eh Harvey?

I believe Jackson will start. If not week one certainly by week 4.
Morency has a good chance of being on the roster.

Herron, Wynn, and Pope will compete for the final RB roster spot.

While Wynn and Pope can still compete for a practice squad spot, Herron cannot.

Noah may be swept away with this tide of new players.

Is the Beacher still injured or do they feel his skills are not superior? Wow, 10 backs on the roster!

Possible reason # 4, for why Beach was released:

Pete Dougherty, of the Green Bay Press Gazette, reports Green Bay Packers RB Arliss Beach (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, June 7, because of a knee injury.
                            Has he practiced since then?
