I think Moll has a spot reserved for him on the practice squad. Last year you could have said the same thing about Chris White, but they kept him on the 53 man roster.

Moll and Tollefson would qualify as practice squad in my book.

Defense looks good, QB looks good, RB looks good, TE looks good, OT looks good. Question Marks are still Guard, Center, and receiver. I'm less concerned about receiver than interior line. It was good to see O-line addresses in the draft, now we got to hope that between last years cast, and this years cast of rookies, we can mold together something respectable. In my mind, the 2006 win/loss ratio depends on this key issue. We need to develope our starters early this year to establish a cohesive working unit. Last years debacle of switching guys throughout was a joke.

I agree with Tarlam....This is the first year that you have about 10 or 15 guys that you really want but might have to cut.

The depth is better than it's been in quite a few years.

After the season I was on a pretty big low as far as the hopes for the team but maybe it's the addtion of Hawk, Colledge, Woodson, Jennings, Hodge ect....but I've gone from no way we beat 7-9 to no way are we worse than 7-9. If I had to toss out a best guess right now I would say 9-7. The coaching is a HUGE question mark right now. Other than that it looks good.

I LOVE HOW INSPIRED AND COMITTED THE TEAM IS......They said the workout room looks like the regular season...WOW.

I'd agree, but what is unknown is if there is depth competing for spots 43-53, or did we draft guys that can compete for starting positions.

            SC,

If you look around the league at the number of rookies who start after round 2 or 3 it is far less than one might imagine..

Only a few rookes start each year and most of them are first or second round picks.

I think Hawk, Colledge, Hodge and Jennings will contribute right away. All of the other guys af good things about them and all appear to be better football players than the likes of Chatman, Thurman, Little, Horton, Klemm, Washington ect.....

If we get 3 rookie starters that is impressive. If we get 2 or 3 more to develop and Hawk is a pro bowler then that draft is a solid A. I really don't think you can expect every draft pick to start year 1. That is lofty expectations even for 2nd and 3rd rounders.

SC, I think the answer is, yes, I think we will get 53 guys playing well this year and competing for starting positions.

Do I think we have a rip-snorting WR core? No. We are one huge play-maker away from that. So are 25 other teams, cause there are only a handful.

Do I think we'll have a garanteed 1st down RB Core? Yes. I think if Green's career is prolonged by sharing time with Gado, and Da Poop is used like Fisher last coupla years, we have a great RB crew.

I hope we use twin TE sets, because that's always tough to defend and I hope I never see Barry line up as a TE again in my life!

Those are 3 areas where we can look to next year's draft, plus a bone crunching DE is still missing.

But, I like this team. A lot.

                Regarding KGB:

WTMJ's Bill Michaels's (Big Unit) had his credibility take another beating when he became the "you heard it hear first" voice that said that Green Bay had all but made the trade for Reggie Bush.

Nonetheless, he had his eyes on KGB this week and said that he can't believe how big and muscular he has gotten. Apparently moving out the damn Nautilus machines and putting in the old fashioned free weights (gotta love a strength coach named Rock Gulliikson) has agreed with KGB's strength conditioning and physique.

Imagine KGB being stouter against the run on top of all the other defensive upgrades.
[QUOTE=George Cumby] ...every draft (Ted) would pick a solid, dependable, smart, athletically limited linebacker...the guy who isn't doing drugs, going to strip bars, knocking around his girlfriend or making any plays of game changing significance.

You know, I had to work this weekend and decided to suffer the wrath of management by monitoring this site from work over the weekend......so it was then that I found out the avatar wasn't working. I'll change it pretty soon.

Rayner might beat out Cundiff for the kicking job.

I only hear that guy when I'm in state for a game or visiting the out-laws. But I can't remember a time when I've agreed with him about anything and I can't recall him being right about anything except the time he predicted the sun would rise Monday morning.

Early prediction for the 53 man roster:

QB Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, Ingle Martin

                            FB William Henderson, Vonta Leach
WR Donald Driver, Rod Gardner, Greg Jennings, Robert Ferguson, Marc Boerigter, Cory Rodgers
TE Bubba Franks, Donald Lee, David Martin
OT Chad Clifton, Mark Tauscher, Kevin Barry, Adrian Klemm
OG Daryn Colledge, Junius Coston, Jason Spitz
                            OC Scott Wells, Chris White
DE Aaron Kampman, Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, Mike Montgomery, Kenny Peterson
DT Ryan Pickett, Colin Cole, Cullen Jenkins, Corey Williams, Kenderick Allen
LB A.J. Hawk, Nick Barnett, Ben Taylor, Abdul Hodge, Brady Poppinga, Roy Manning
CB Al Harris, Charles Woodson, Ahmad Carroll, Mike Hawkins, Will Blackmon
S Nick Collins, Marquand Manuel, Mark Roman, Tyrone Culver
                            PK Billy Cundiff
                            P Jon Ryan
                            LS Rob Davis

Cuts: OG William Whitticker, DT Donnell Washington, LB Robert Thomas, S Marviel Underwood (one year and gone like Marques Anderson), B.J. Sander

Practice Squad: DT Johnny Jolly, TE Garrett Cross, WR Chad Lucas, Vince Butler, or Leo Bookman (not sure who is eligible), OT Tony Moll, DE Dave Tollefson, LB Kurt Campbell, CB Therrian Fontenot

Wouldn't be surprised if Rayner won the PK job from Cundiff though.

Roman versus Underwood should be interesting come camp. There is absolutely no upside to Roman. I would think that all Underwood has to do is improve slightly and he gets the spot. Good call on Whitless - I can't see him fitting this scheme as a guard and Barry has to be retained to back up the tackle spot, even though he likely won't see playing time at guard.

P.S. The Carolina game last year showed that Klemm is a natural tackle. It's logical to keep him to back up Clifton. He had to switch positions during the Carolina game and was solid.
