That would be outstanding news; I'm sick of this dam thing. Hmmm; seeing I only have one ounce of credibility as it is, I might askt he forum for views on this. Once upon a Time, in a Fairyland called Grailworld,
I actually thought TT would sign two legitimate free agents.

I considered Frank Walker to be one legit free agent.....a stretch.

Could a punter be a 2nd legit free agent ?
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

Packers Sign Free Agent P Ryan Dougherty; Place Humphrey On I.R.

      posted 08/03/2007

The Green Bay Packers have signed punter Ryan Dougherty, a non-drafted rookie free agent out of East Carolina. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the signing Friday.

Dougherty was a three-time All-Conference USA selection, with a career average of 42.7 yards per punt. The four-year standout had 68 punts inside the 20, playing in 47 career games.

The Orlando, Fla., product also served as the team's kickoff specialist his junior and senior seasons, accounting for 47 touchbacks. Dougherty was a three-time watch list candidate for the Ray Guy Award, presented to the nation's best college punter.

The 6-foot-1, 233-pound player will wear No. 8.

In a related roster move, tight end Tory Humphrey was placed on injured reserve (ankle).
I totally whiffed on the name ...

I dunno, B. Probably not a camp leg. I'd say Joe Werner is a more legit FA than a camp leg. But it doesn't matter. If you're sick of the sig, then call it good enough. It's your call.

NO NO NO! The key word here is legitimate. I'm one helluva sweet guy so I'll give you the Walker signing counting as one. However, I draw the line when it comes to no name punters!!!!!!!!!!!

With all the kick teams practice a team needs 2 of each in camp to keep one guy from wearing out his leg. Every year.

But ever since I was a kid and saw Chester Marcol in pregame warm up punting 60-65 yards(that would be 45-50 if 15 yards behind line of scrimage)
I always thought a team could go with just one kicking specialist(like Craig Hentrich).

Ryan is the second most secure of a roster spot.

We signed every single football player that'd play for $8.50 an hour, and they didn't count as legit free agents. This guys chances of making this football team is less than mine, so I vote no... Sorry. :P

But I'm with Idle. I vote yes on Werner. RG, at this point you probably could stick at tight end, so I think he qualifies.

Well, Harvey said I was a contrarian, so I guess I have to be wrong. The Vikings game was the BEST game the Packers played last year. The statistics prove it.

You can't count Werner when he does'nt even know the damn play!

Stuff that might not make the print edition ...

-- We're still in a fight-free camp, but defensive end Cullen Jenkins got physical with Brandon Jackson during the final special-category period, shoving the rookie running back after a play.

-- Speaking of Jenkins, he sent rookie tight end Joe Werner airborne when Werner tried to block him on a Noah Herron run during team drills.

-- Werner, the former UW-La Crosse basketball star who hasn't played football since high school, provided my favorite scene of camp so far. He emerged from a huddle with the first-team offense and wasn't sure where to go. He turned and looked at quarterback Brett Favre, who made two jabbing motions with his hand, giving Werner a sandlot-style route. Surprise, surprise, Favre didn't throw him the ball.
-- Shaun Bodiford and Ryan Powdrell continue to line up as the top kick return pairing. The rest of the first unit today consisted of: Jarrett Bush, Jason Hunter, Tracy White, Brady Poppinga, Robert Ferguson, Michael Montgomery, Johnny Jolly, Allen Barbre and Korey Hall.

-- The first- and second-team offenses had false starts in the final period. Barbre, the fourth-round pick, was removed from the drill after the second.

-- Practice ended after almost exactly two-and-a-half hours, at 4:29 p.m.

-- Passing stats, better than normal on a day with a lot of throws to running backs (7-on-7 in parentheses): Brett Favre 18-for-26 (9-for-11); Aaron Rodgers 14-for-15 (9-for-9); Ingle Martin 3-for-6 (1-for-3); Paul Thompson 1-for-1 (1-for-1).

I'd say any free agent that makes the roster or the practice squad can be retroactively viewed as "legitimate." So you can also consider cheering for Antonio Malone, Tim Goodwell, C.J. Blomvall, or Carl-Johan Bjork to make the squad.

C'mon, B, changing that sig to update the day tracker without 2 FAs has gotta be a pain in the ass. Imagine just logging onto PR and not having to change the sig.

Do it, B. Get rid of the sig. It's time.
